Unless it doesn't work and you think it is working !!

Hot tub chemicals are designed for small quantities in a large volume of water.

Too little, doesn't work, too much, a potentially corrosive mixture.

A correctly monitored hot tub is fine to use, just don't invite the neighbours round.:default_biggrin:

:default_hiding:  Even if circumstances permitted they would'nt get an invite!

  3. As reported on a different post, with our 3 month 'break', amongst other things decided to get our spa out ready for the summer,

(now going to snow?!).  Anyway, got it filled up and realised that we only had 3 chlorine tablets left.  Could not go to the last supplier

as 1)  not allowed to travel and 2) they were near Ashford and now have a motorway slip road built over them.

Went on e bay and ordered some.  Delivered very quickly and good price. They arrived today and as always left feedback as appropriate on e bay.

I was amazed to receive a reply from the supplying company thanking me for my order, wishing me well in the present world crisis and really showing

true gratitude.  I really felt very chuffed and would like to recommend them should you need similar products.  They are stellalifeltd and can be found

on e bay.  If this breaks any rules please remove as necessary.  I have no connection with this company but feel they really do need to be mentioned.

    Keep well.  Be carefull.  Alan

If we're talking decking, i started replacing mine in January, thought i'd have an easy job just replacing the planks with new composite. unfortunatly i found the joists were rotting too so it became a major job. I originally built it abiut 18years ago never thinking i would have to do it again.

Hi.  Been there and done that!  At the time a decking area at the back of a sloping garden complete with fish pond and summer

house seemed like a good idea.  18 years later I am not so sure!

All, don't forget 8pm tonight. I'll be sounding Autonomy's (our Broom's) quad airhorns here too, if you are on a boat please make as much as noise as possible! Lets be heard and show our appreciation :)

Very important to show our support.  Wife and I on the doorstep at 8.00pm.  Next door neighbour came out (safe distance) and we clapped.  Could hear a few also in the distance but not sure we got the message over where we live.  Lets do it again soon

with hands on our horns so that EVERYONE can hear our support?

Griff.  That was my thoughts exactly regarding the window cleaner.  We were self isolating to do our bit like most others.

    Why was'nt he?

  7. Like the majority of us we are self isolating.  The weather is good here so doing the garden etc.  Just dug the spa

from its winter hibernation and now up and running.  However our regular window cleaner has just turned up to clean

the windows.  I told him that I did not consider his job to be an essential one and that he should have been self isolating

too and sent him away.  Was I right to do this, what do you think?  Keep safe and keep well.

Taken me a month to catch up on here! Soz.

Freedom opens for hire in February. We sent our first day boats out yesterday and four cruisers go our over the next week or so.

Until Easter, we limit the fleet to just a few boats according to maintenance workload and demand. At this time, we are limiting the fleet to Four boats: Spirit, Sweet, Song and Tranquil with Fine becoming available towards the end of February.

We do limit travel to the Southern Broads only until the start of British Summer Time.

Later in the year, boat are definitely available until the end of October and then it's weather dependent in November with the fleet being restricted again so we can begin maintenance.

Sorry, but we will not hire at all in December or January.

    Come on Andy, keep up!!

This was the very first boat I hired and again on the Thames hence my interest in the yard. I've spoken to Jonathon a few times over the years who built them and like you say too many regulations were why he stopped. What were the other boats you hired off them. We only hired off him one but visited the yard 3 times and was always nice to see a new boat being built every time. Do you have any old photos from you trips you'd be able to share ?

The boats were always Charisma and Fantastique.  My son and his mates had Fantastique and we had Charisma.  We had our own boat down south and the brothers used to allow us to bring our two inflateables and outboards with us.. - some great water fights were had - I still miss it - must have been 30+ years ago.  We have moved a few times since then but if I recover any photos will mail you.

I posted a question I think 15 years ago on the other forum asking if anyone had ever used this yard back in the 90's or had any photos.

Although people were aware of them and their reputation for running a brilliant fleet in the passing 15 years I've yet to find anyone else that hired their boats or even come across any photos of the old fleet, so that's my question again. Did any of the members on here ever use them or if anyone does have any photos of this old fleet you'd make an old boy very happy if you could share.

We hired from Greenway three times.  The last time when Charisma was brand new.  We always hired two boats.  From memory the boats were completely fitted out on site by one of the brothers.  He told us that when sold on the Thames he would hire one there and look on in amusement when going into the locks at a fair pace seeing the faces of the 'gin palace' owners in panic, not realising that he, as the builder, could probably handle her as well as anyone.  When the new regulations came out it was so costly to obtain certificates to build that they decided to stop.

We hope to have our boat sold early next spring. We have decided to hold of putting her on brokerage just now as winter is arriving and wait until spring is in the air.

    But anyway I diverge.

We hope that one of our first trips when we get our new motorhome next year will be a trip to Norfolk and Suffolk with a few days pottering around on the Broads.

Does anyone know of any good campsites or pubs (or similar) that allow motorhomes (small under 6m) to stay. We won't need full facilities every night as the van will be self sufficient. We will however need a site every few days to deal with emptying and refilling the relevant onboard tanks and ensuring that the batteries get a decent overnight charge.

We will probably call into Wells nest the Sea on the way down which will be a sited night or two and we will call into Southwold as well which will be a sited night or two so probably won't need facilities too quickly when we arrive at the Broads.

    Any suggestions welcomed.

:default_icon_wave:  When we sold our last boat that was based at Beccles we could not wait to get back to Norfolk when we replaced the boat with a motorhome.  First stop was the campsite in Potter Heigham and then a few days at the cl at Hippersons, Beccles.  Both sites very friendly and the ride up to Beccles on our electric bikes memorable!

Whilst it was enjoyable it did not live up to the boat so we sold it soon after!

    Have fun with yours.

I received a call from Nicky at Freedom this afternoon. Because the boat isn't going back out tomorrow (well I'm the only one hiring it in November I suspect) I can return the boat any time until 3-30pm tomorrow. I've not prompted them at all and I was fully expecting to be back by 9am. That's fantastic service in my view and not something I'd get elsewhere.

They did the same for us when we hired Absolute Freedom in September.  They really put themselves out.  Great yard.

Not quite correct as a poppy Appeal collector papar poppies are sold up until 11 November, pins are sold on behalf of the appeal and generate lots of money each year.Just check on the poppy shop.com.

Thanks for that.  Just been on the site and spent nearly £40.  Not a lot I know but it all helps and goes to the right cause.

I bought a Summercraft in Egham in Surrey where the boat remains. She is not in the water, I bought her in haste and I'm looking to sell it. I wish to sell her quickly. 3k initially but am looking to accept offers, If anyone is interested please contact me directly, thank you. Only problem is that the hull needs emptying inside. Besides that everything else works perfectly. Anthony (07459 627525).

Hi.  What do you mean by hull needs emptying inside?  Is it full of water?  What sort of engine does she have and is it OK?

Now gentlemen. I don't wish to complain but I'd been keeping away from TV and radio so's not to find out anything about the race. Sadly you've rather given the game away. Just the title alone did the trick.  Pity!!

:default_dunce:  Having said that, BBC 1 told everyone the result this morning at 8.00am  which is bloody typical of them.  They do't show the races but want to ruin it for all those that do!

  16. :default_cool: I spent today going through all my now redundant boat gear looking for my NBN flag.  Quite suprised how

much stuff I had and forgotten about!   After much searching, there it was, just sticking out of a lin bin.

It has now been fitted to a pulpit mast which will be displayed on  Absolute Freedom (with the owners permission)

of course, from Monday 23 to Friday 27.  Give us a wave if you see us or better still have a chat.

:default_badday: Having owned many boats, mostly on the Broads over many years we came to the same outcome a few years ago.

Eve had got to the stage where she was finding if difficult to get off when mooring so we decided to give up the boat.  I bought a motorhome which we used a few times (in Norfolk and Suffolk) we tried to convince ourselves that it was just as good at boating, but it was'nt!

We now use cruise ships and let others do the work, but I still miss the 'Broads'.  So much so that me and four other blokes are having 4 nights on Absolute Freedom starting next Tuesday.

You just cannot get it out of your system!

Sorry - its Monday not Tuesday - must be getting too excited!

Last week we came to the painful conclusion that age and infirmity have caught up with us and that Boating is no longer an option thus we spent a few days clearing our much loved boat (9+ years of detritus!) and last Friday we took her to Sheerline to be brokered. She has been  fabulous and in all the years we have owned her has not once failed to start. We are finding this very hard as boating has been our "thing" for more than 30 years, but now Tony has a chronic back condition that makes it all but impossible to keep the boat properly maintained and my balance these days is not what it was either making it a bit risky coming in to moor. We are thinking of maybe buying a cabin or chalet as a bolthole instead but initial investigation indicates  that these come with expensive overheads. Does anyone have any experience of these? I know I am going to find reading all the posts on this forum  quite painful for a while and will be full of envy of those of you out and about on the  Broads. One of my big regrets is that we haven't had long on our recently acquired mooring  at Ferry Marina. I have really loved it there and would have liked to have been there for longer as despite some of the comments to the contrary on this forum when I posted our intention to relocate from Brundall. it was a good move and not one we regretted at all.
