I agree with Jean Beccles is good plenty of pubs and places to eat Kings Head is a Weatherspoons also Bear and Balls as a good reputation.
Oulton Broad as a good few places am sure Peter (Jenny Morgan) will recomend
The Bell at St Olaves is good but mooring can be a bit difficult if the tide is running
Loddon as a few pubs White Horse at Chedgrave and the Swan are good there are also a couple of other pubs but they do not do food.
On the Yare there are several places fronting the river
Ship and Ferry at Reedham, Red House Cantley Ferry Surlingham
Any way wherever you go have a great time

I am a planning consultant by profession and agree with Peter planners are getting very difficult about granting permission in areas like Horning the only way is to research other permissions granted if any and find out how they achieved permission

I would have done what you intended to do but legally I think it would be trouble
calling the police is the correct option I think only they have the power not you and I as private citizens
but as I said I would have broken and damm the consequences I would be prepared to argue out in court

I stand to be corrected but I do not think Dick and Gwen had any children ar least not involved in the yard.
Brian I believe is Gwens brother and in later years ran the yard with Dick
These days I believe Brian and Sue run the yard but am not sure who owns what
