I would do a practice run to ensure you can get under Wayford. It's a long walk from there to Dilham and your Christmas dinner might get cold!

If it's busy and vibrant with just one boat moored the locals must be back?

5/. Every time you build yet another huge retail park or housing estate on what used to be farmland and cover it in Tarmac, you are just adding to the run-off of rainwater into these rivers.
Every time someone concretes over their drive way might not seem very important but if you add a 100 drive ways then the effect is noticeable!

according to the bridge pilot she needs 6'3" at Potter - he looked it up in their big black book, she will get through wroxham at 6'
I think that figure is based on me telling them that figure some years ago when I asked them for their help!!! I think at a push she might go through perhaps at 6' but I wouldn't want to take the risk
I suppose the thing to do is take her through at 6' 3" and see how much space there is either side of the canopy roof? There is plenty above at that height

It also says in the article that "The lines serving Berney Arms were closed for most of the period between April 2019 and March 2020 due to work to upgrade signalling." Which is when they compared the data! :)

Agree never used WRs grill for toast just a waste of time. Best to buy those part cooked rolls and put in oven!
WRs oven and hob could cook roast pork and all the trimmings for up to 8 people but the best use of the grill SPACE is to heat plates!!!

A little bird told me that the likes of BA and co are going to have a new companion - not sure for how long but she left her home in Horning today!
Back on topic?
The new companion in the wetshed is a delightful little woodie. No surprise there then as there are already quite a few delightful little woodies in t wetshed
What was a surprise is the way that the new owners came to own this delightful little woodie. I heard the story today and tis a proper lovely tale. I'd love to share it with you but need to get some permissions first, that's not easy as I have not met the new owners as of yet

Being at Horning today, I only commented that Calypso wasn't moored up.

for such small creatures they always leave such a gaping hole in our hearts when their time comes to leave. I recently lost one of my boys, and although I still have 3 others, it seems there are times when the house seems empty without him. still, I am sure him and Nyx will have a good time playing while they await us at the rainbow bridge.
We still have three but so true

Stonegate Group
Menu on the New Inn FB page saying they were reopening on the ?5th November is almost identical to the one for our local Stonegate pub in Ware which is also about to close for renovations!
They do a good range of beer but the length of our local pub's bar is considerably longer than the New Inn. A very similar set up to that other well known chain We**er*****s but better!

Is Brundall Gardens station shown? That was earlier it says in 1924? There is the old church tower at Repps?
-
Is the Halt at Potter Heigham Bridge shown? It says according to Mr Google it opened in 1933? So between 1923 & 1933?

I wish I could help. No pubs so no closure dates? I'll try and look on the big screen at the weekend for possible clues

We were slightly puzzled as to why any new boat bought privately would be sold so soon but maybe the owners' circumstances changed.
Maybe they didn't like it for some of the reasons you mentioned?

Brings back memories! One of my favourites when I was stationed/living in Germany was Schweinshaxe with Spargel and boiled potatoes!

Didn't really like spargel when I ate it although I like asparagus!!! This is seriously off topic but......he's back at Wild Kenhill for autumn watch shortly ( which is in Norfolk)

This fits the bill as far as the photo shows. Just needs a good sized garden on the side.
The problem with the Ferry in Horning is that it is at the end of a short lane, nothing really behind it apart from boatyards now and no old cottages just holiday chalets?
The next question is it another pub such as say the Waveney at Burgh St Peter?

Stuck with Vaughan's third photo - just wondered whether it was inside the Black Horse? Going back to the New Inn its a real struggle to find a 1970s photo of the exterior. If not probably the Buck!!
Here is a Francis Frith photo from the 1960s which really does show a very different pub. No out buildings what so ever and covered in Ivy.
https://www.francisfrith.com/horning/horning-the-new-inn-c1965_h116117
I also found this photo which I think should be credited to Craig Slawson which shows the grass and the big willow tree but still with the extensions - looks possibly 1980s or 90s?

The Black Horse wasn't by the river - I still think it has to be either the New Inn or the Anchor. New Inn was pretty basic in the 1970s just two simple bars but with a big garden. Anchor then was plusher, did had a resturarant but also had plenty of moorings. Finding a photo of the New Inn in the 1970s seems quite hard!

My husband has just returned from our local supermarket and moaning that no one (that is shoppers) seems to be taking the blindest bit of notice of the rules regarding masks! When questioning a staff member they said they can't enforce it............... he said you can, you can refuse to serve them.............but of course they wouldn't would they?
