  1. A lot of housing developments were on hold due to concerns about the pollution effect these would have on the environment / water bodies without mitigation.

The government has simply decided to abandon the rules so that the house builders can start building again - needless to say the shares of many of those companies involved went up yesterday.

There is a need for more housing or at least affordable housing - I suspect many of these developments contain little or no affordable housing and will be just another blot on the landscape.  For example where I live, the previous council just decided to remove a large area of land from the greenbelt so that a massive housing estate could be built with no supporting infrastructure, limited water supply and an already overloaded local sewage system............ the local elections proved what support the local electorate had for their plans...........

  2. We've already made cucumber relish and tomato relish. The mint is doing exceedingly well and loads frozen to make mint sauce in the winter. Next it will be dealing with the Bramley apples from our veteran tree! The house built in the 60s was built on an orchard but all the fruit trees retained. Some have been cut down but we got the best tree imho!

Liz do you know where you can park to visit Flavours please? Can you use Ferry Marina’s car park?

Pass as we walked. I think you would need to ask them. They may have a dedicated parking by the restaurant but they are on good terms with Ferry Marina /the staff that work there!

Oh, thank you. I’ve just looked them both up, similar but pleased to learn the differences, those white spots!

I did see you setting off after all and before that when you were readying to go. Now I know your whereabouts, I’ll keep a better eye out next time! Hope you had a good day. There were a lot of yachts out yesterday in general. Must have been good conditions.

We had an 'excellent' race!!!! Led the fleet for close on 80% of it to killer corner by the big willow tree where the wind went round in circles ........ended up 5th!!!!!

Of course I failed miserably at the tides, which I was fighting into all the way, it turned just as I exited the new cut., still I was in no great rush, making rpm for 5mph (achieving between 4 and 4 1/2)

Hopefully that helped charge up the batteries? Enjoy the break!

  6. If you talk to bird watchers there is no such thing as a seagull!  They are Gulls of a specific species and it's probably because it is illegal to disturb a breeding bird!  Same it's illegal to fell trees during the bird breeding season unless you have checked there aren't any.

My weekend, it was keelboat weekend at Horning, 2 races Saturday, 4 races Sunday.

Blue Moon went surprisingly well, she was able to keep up with the opposition up wind, which is good for a boat 7% slower on handicap, down wind the opposition's longer length, they have a hull of 20ft against BMs 16ft, really paid off and BM really got left behind.

Had a good tussle with LizG at one point.. as we went tack for tack up river ...

I believe Liz won her boats class for the event..

It was brilliant weekend to be honest!  Yes I remember our tussle well and yes I did win the White Boat class trophy!! But by a whisker all down to the last race when I came first.  I was level pegging on points with Scarce Copper at the end of the weekend but because I had 2 firsts I won!  A bit breezy at times but nothing more spectacular than getting a white boat on the plane coming down the Reach!!!

Correction to Q only 3 races on Sunday!!!
