  1. I don't think the NSBA have a FB presence - I think the document being shared is a press release which is being happily shared between the various boating related FB groups - I've seen it also on River Cruiser FB page - its a shame they haven't added it to the actual NSBA website!  Maybe they will............

  2. I note the NSBA has made some very strong objections and points I am pretty sure that they are keen to have their press release shared but it is available to read on at least one FB group. I'm not sharing in view of the original issues on this thread.

To be fair to Helen, the OS map does say Upper Street where BiWilderwood is.

I know Upper Street as the bit of road where the houses are near where Church Road /School Road come out onto the main A1062. The map confusingly also marks that as Upper Street.

It is confusing but that is Hoveton Upper Street not Horning Upper Street :default_biggrin:

After posting my parcel I made my way up the hill toward Upper Street and found a footpath between the houses on the junction of the Neatishead road which led over a field to a lane.

That wasn't Upper Street but simply Neatishead Road - had me confused for a moment or two.  When you are at your moorings you need to turn right out of Ferry View Estate to walk to Upper Street (and Horning Church) but there are plenty of walking opportunities in that direction as well

  5. If people are thinking about trying out the Horning Ferry - they are shutting for a few weeks whilst they do some improvements.  I also read that this applies to the Reedham Ferry as well for a few weeks.

  6. I'm pleased it was up to your high standards!

I'm feeling very full after a turkey roast with stacks of trimmings followed by Christmas pud (my father's recipe) plus a few glasses of wine

Happy Christmas everyone albeit a bit late

That was a big slipway, too! The gradient of it went right up to the road.

It's also probably why our house hasn't shown significant signs of subsidence compared to some of the other houses on the development!!!

  8. Think Vaughan has as much knowledge. :default_biggrin:

Although this map is 1888-1913 it still shows Horning probably as it almost was?

Just opposite the Petersfield (as was) there is still some lagoons and I can imagine that as the willow pattern harbour as there were/are wooden bridges, the pines of the Petersfield - all a bit willow pattern? I've seen an old aerial photos online but can't find it at the moment!

Broadland Memories has loads of photos of Horning but the Francis Frith archive is pretty impressive

This one might look uninteresting but the concrete pavement is still there - you walk on it when you go to the Chinese which is the building in the corner.  The cottages are still there  but the boatsheds which say HT Percival is the development where I lived between 1970 and 1981 etc.

After dodging it for nearly 3 years I tested positive for Covid last night. 😷

A bit achey and a head ache ( nothing new there ) so far.

Daughter 1 - caught it twice but waited to this July for the first bout

Daughter 2 - caught it twice (just recovering from 2nd bout but timed it better this year, last year was 7 days before Christmas)

Daughter 3 - not knowingly caught it but countless colds and always negative

Me and Dr G - still once but not taking anything for granted.

Went around a very crowded London Friday and seem to have avoided it????

    Get well soon!

Hi Liz went to Cromer yesterday but yes, no trains today. Back in Horning and amazingly the Ferry is open and even more amazingly its got 3 Blind Mice Juice Rocket on, good form too. Just waiting for the inevitable announcement that they are closing early. Then back to the dreaded Gloombar :default_2gunsfiring_v1:

It was the absence of photos made me think you didn't make it!!!

Tell Mrs Nog that Gin Mare in the New Inn is quite agreeable, I had it with full fat original Fever Tree. It was a brand new bottle so she might be the 2nd person to try it. It comes from Spain and I had some Formentera in April

The Ferry does have a good variety of beers.....

  11. I make mine using a sweet pastry made in the food processor using French flour bought in France.

Farine de ble - premiere extraction (accents missing). Hopefully my stock will last as aren't planning any future trips ☹️
