  1. Evening - if you haven't been south for a while a few places you won't have seen are

    1. Whitlingham Broad - not accessible by boat but good 24 hour moorings on the river 20 metres from Broad - nice teashop

    2. Hardley Mill - great moorings on the pontoon & well worth a look.

    3. Waveney river centre - ferry takes you to Carlton Marshes

    4. Oulton Broad - new ferry service to Lowestoft - think it's now working

    5. Trip to Norwich - even if you choose not to stay the riverside has changed dramatically.

Canoe hire also available in Norwich if you fancy a paddle upstream.

    6. In Surlingham there is a vineyard called Wimbri - they sell the wine in Coldham Hall & Waitrose! They may do trips round the vineyard - moor at Coldham Hall.

    7. Think you can get a trip round Langley Abbey -moor at Langley Dyke and check it out online - it's where the polo club is and around 300 metres from Langley Dyke.

Haven't mentioned pubs etc as others have already covered that but just a few ideas for new things you may not have seen. Enjoy - sure you will have a fab time!

  2. We took a trip on The Museum of the Broads' steam launch Falcon today to the Norfolk Punt a Club pontoon on Barton Broad. - they are also runjning the same trip tomorrow.  A great couple of hours & took a few photos which I thought I would share. The organisers were also doing tea and cake on the pontoon! More action tomorrow to! Fabulous!

  3. Realistically we have had a good summer - in our house we all have Mediterranean suntans as a result of being on the river. Yesterday wasn't good and having literally paddled home from work I can confirm it was warm paddling & quite pleasant! Boating this weekend will be fine - good company & being afloat whatever the weather is just fabulous! Have a lovely day all.

  4. There are always idiots about whatever vehicles they are using. Having spent Sunday with hundreds of cyclists popping into the Museum of the Broads on the Tour de Broads I can say they were all just lovely. Here are a couple of photos from the day! a54925b78f69b4856c32eeb3b9216b17.jpg98ec96daada5ebe84b8735d5d771df49.jpg

  5. Good news re the sciatica easing a bit - be careful when getting in and out of the car - sit down & then swing legs round - nylon sheet or plastic bag good for this purpose. If you ever see a strange looking person doing exercises on a boat whilst it is moving give me a waive! Still hope to see you on the river one day! Regards Poggymale AKA @museumbroads

  6. If you are out and about on Sunday am there maybe one or two cyclists on the road. The race starts at Strumpshaw Hall and covers locations including Reedham, Wroxham, Ranworth & Stalham - the lunch stop is at the Museum of the Broads where volunteers will be handing out lunches. Loads of riders cycling for charities and it's a great way to highlight the beautiful Broads. http://www.revolutionevents.co/tour-de-broads#.VdVwlcSkqK0

    Give them a wave!

  7. Dragons are for all & great for the little ones. I live here & will be doing the trail as it takes you to some lovely hidden bits you don't always visit. Totally agree re getting a hotel - far less faffing about involved! Glad you had a lovely time - walking along the river is fascinating as there are lots of remains of times past when Norwich was a port!
