  1. Norwich is a very fine city although I may be bias! 2 cathedrals and one of the largest number of churches found anywhere is the country in such a small space. The Dragon trail is well worth doing as it takes you round lots of hidden bits. Heritage open days next months sees some cracking buildings open to the public in Norwich & further afield - all for free (including the Museum of the Broads at Stalham)

  2. My Three dongle is brilliant on the Broads. Hardly anywhere it doesn't work & it means I can continue with the social media updates I do for a certain organisation. I don't like being wed to the internet but it's there if I need it. Three also have an excellent thing which means you can use their network abroad in certain countries at no additional cost! PS I am not related in any way to Three!

  3. Cold. Hot Cold and if you have only just done it then cold. Ibuprofen to take the inflammation down and although you probably don't feel like it - exercise. Walking, swimming and a few pelvic tilts - flat on back with knees up & feet on the floor & tilt pelvis. It needs to calm down - sitting one of the worst things possible. If you do sit on your bum muscles supported by a cushion further up your back than you think it needs to go - slouching dreadful. Please note not a old croc but have sympathy with anyone who suffers what is a debilitating predicament! Get better soon - we need your wit!

  4. Great write up and photos. Think as you say you adapt to the space . As a child we used to do a month with 4 of us every August on a 27 foot boat. It was always and still is the bathroom which seems huge when you return home. Lovely day already in Nelsons county! Enjoy

  5. Broom Navigator - absolutely beautiful boat - used to love working on them. Bumped into a chap earlier this year who had one and raved about it to him. To me they just say Broads! Always a fan of the original Moores boats and Jack Powles too!

  6. Norwich is going to have the largest selection of places to eat so maybe worth a whirl - restaurants too many to mention here (plus good shopping if that's your bag). Starters only maybe at other places? What about a slightly different approach - great walk into Beccles where also a fab pool, great walk into Lowestoft. Lovely walk between Beccles and Geldeston plus Berney Arms to Yarmouth (and train back). Walk to Somerleyton Hall from the moorings or across Carlton Marshes after getting the Ferry from Waveney River Centre. Walk to Hardley Cross from Loddon or the other way round. Finally the Dragon trail in Norwich - you may even find Drogo (for Game of Thrones fans)

  7. Morning all - like Gracie I have been on the Broads since I was a small child - parents had a wooden boat. Then it was get on the bow and help with the ropes - all part of the boating experience and fun. Nowadays I moor our boat (and still in 2015 get some strange looks) and husband does the ropes but again life jackets on & get on with it. If there is someone there to give the rope to then great. Each to their own re mooring but our approach is always all hands on deck! Have a lovely day all!

  8. There are a lot of fishing platforms around Buckenham and also between Surlingham & Bramerton. You often see some people fishing at the sewage outlet at Whitlingham - possibly not first choice but there are fish there! Lots of fishermen in Norwich and again on the Yare downstream of Brundall - in the quieter months they fish from the middle of the river. My father used to fish everywhere & line fished for eels at Oulton Broad. Good luck

  10. That looks very nice & brand new. Does give those without a tender the opportunity to purchase a bit of freedom if moored Ranworth Island or Percy's Island of popping over to the ever packed staithe. It's also great for a bit of dinghy exploring or collection of the Chinese if on Surlingham! I have no connection to the seller however do love to see dinghys used on the Broads as it's becoming a lost activity!

  11. Lowestoft weather was horrendous Friday eve. Went out to dinner there and had to drive back and the roads were covered in water. Had gone to see friends who stayed the night afloat at the RN&S and they didn't get much sleep. Norwich came off lightly compared with the Coast. Ludham bridge yesterday was mega windy and choppy. All good today & the crew at Beccles should be able to have breakfast in the sun!
