Incidentally we always take a small folding step stool with us as I often have trouble getting on or off the boat at some point in the holiday no matter what the boat or where we're moored. Loddon was interesting getting off the bathing platform stern moored.

This is the fine weather day we’ve been waiting for. Have a lovely time. ☀️

Hope you have a lovely time. My favourite stern on mooring down south would be Beccles but that would be a long cruise in one day.

We had sunshine a little while ago … for all of five minutes.

Still very blustery and showing just over 6ft at 12.30 today.

Happy Anniversary and have a lovely week. There’s something nice about getting back to a boat you’ve hired before and know well. At least you’ll have a decent view from on top for negotiating those sailies. Forecast seems to be for a breezy day.

That was a great meeting of the Friday Friends this evening. Many thanks to everyone who came along to play my quiz, it was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed hosting it.
It was a close finish with Arthur and Steve joint runners up on 10 points.
Congratulations to Tigerhawk who was victorious on 12 points.
As we have a number of people otherwise engaged next Friday we have agreed that the quiz will take a break next week, returning the following Friday. By that time it might even be summer.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Happy Birthday Carole 🎂 Sounds like it’s been a good day. Hope you have a lovely weekend to carry on celebrating. 🥳

We should make it clear this is just the evening service as a restaurant. The tearoom will remain open during the day as far as I know from other reports.

Bumping this up again. Here’s hoping it will be third time lucky for getting my quiz run on Friday evening!
Please come if you can … otherwise I will gracefully retire and you may never know what you might have known if the questions had been asked.
Hopefully I will see you about 8.30 in the chat room. The quiz will start at 8.40 prompt. 🤞

I'm in Horning for the weekend. Very miserable weather at the moment!
It’s a shocking evening out there. Wet and windy and cold. Not even like spring never mind summer which meteorologically arrives any day now, doesn’t it?!

Just had a heavy shower but it’s showing 6’6 at 12.30. 👍

That sounds like a most delightful day Kate. I hope you have more of the same today.

Really enjoying your write up. It’s an eye opener as to the comparison with cruising on the Broads.

Well it’s been mostly dry today but it had pretty much rained most of Saturday and Sunday with some torrential thundery showers yesterday.

In case it is useful for anyone the bridge height marker is currently showing just over 6’ at 17.00. Can’t see 6’3.

We really enjoyed our meal there back in December. A friend had told me that their young lady chef was exceptional and the food was delicious. But if she’s leaving and the reputation was built on her ability then that might be hard to replicate. We will doubtless still go over there for daytime visits.

It has certainly been a very wet couple of days. Seemed to rain for most of the day yesterday and then we were treated to a lot of torrential downpours this afternoon after showery rain this morning. I hope your week goes to plan Kate. 🤞

That is a real shame. The Granary was lovely as an evening venue. I wonder whether its smaller size made it less viable as a restaurant. We will still go there for morning coffees but are not so likely to go to Ranworth for the Maltsters.

River Space On The Chet
in Broads Chat

I noticed the reeds growing out into the river when we were there a few weeks ago. I don't mind nudging against the reeds at the edge, but I didn't really consider that driving over those growing up further out was going to be very good for the boat. Fortunately I didn't meet any other boats in any of those places so wasn't forced to decide what to do. But the the clear water did narrow considerably.
