  1. Somewhere at the very back of my memory I seem to recall a pub next to Kings Head in Wroxham  (Hoveton to be politically correct.) The name I think was the Horseshoes and it's beer was very similar to our local brew at the time...Hull Brewery. I am going back to mid 60's

Can anyone shed any light on this or correct me if my memory is fading as it get older.

  2. It's good to hear that the Ferry has had what sounds like a huge improvement.

We used to enjoy a meal there before it went downhill a while back now.

Must remember to check it out again when we are down that way again layer in the year

    Thanks.               Jeff

  3. simple and swift remedy. !!

Get the army in to construct a Bailey bridge over the existing one.

Gives the Royal Engineers something to do and solves the problem all in about 24 hours

Surely it could be arranged for a member of the "National Parks" group.

(Tongue is now stuck firmly in cheek)

  5. I second all the above comments. At difficult times this forum is a godsend and viewing the webcams every day really does help with sanity.

I wish all members and "THE MANAGEMENT" a very merry Christmas and a very very happy and prosperous 2023

  7. It amazes me that a bloke who "trains" for hours and hours can't kick a ball into a massive hole with another bloke stood in the middle of it.

On top of that he is regarded as the best this country has!!!!!!!!!!            And he gets paid a fortune for not being able to do his job properly

  8. I can't understand why there is such a major problem with refunding all monies paid to a company who can no longer supply the item ordered and not yet supplied.

Why should they accept a " low deposit" and not refund it as they cannot provide the item as ordered?

On top of that they turn round and tell you that you have not paid enough for something that you are not going to get !!

I can remember the days when you could "reserve" a boat for a particular date 12 months later without paying a penny. You would then receive a letter in January asking if you wanted to make it a firm booking and if the answer is YES please send a deposit of x pounds by a specified date.

It seems to me that nowadays booking agents are there to rip you off rather than treat you as a valued customer. !!!

  9. I also remember eagerly awaiting the arrival of the latest brochures.

I would read every detail of every boat again and again. If I was asked anything about any boat I could tell mum or dad everything they wanted to know from boatyard to size to layout and the names and details of any similar boats.

I would also be able to tell them if they had moved from one boatyard to another

It certainly kept me busy during the long dark nights of winter
