  4. Pipedreams had a little open wallet surgery this week , a new upgraded alternator (then you Daniel Austrin for your prompt service) , we spend last night in The Crown and had the wonderful surprise of Gary , Charlotte and Oscar being there when we arrived .

After much deliberation where to go we are now moored up in “The taxi rank” , chairs out enjoying a warm day.

I will let you know what I was told - probably a load of rubbish but here goes - a boat with its fenders down at sea is tantamount to a lady going out with her rollers in her hair!!!!

    Comments please?

Do we start calling Griff Enid Sharples then ?

  6. The simple answer is that the population is growing quicker than available properties , people are living longer the family unit is different , children tend to fly the nest earlier it is now unusual for three generations to live under one roof ; all of these have attributed to housing shortage if you add to that the net growth of population due to high immigration as the world keeps shrinking , then lack of accommodation is inevitable .

Since the 70’s we have seen the world change dramatically the collapse of the former USSR saw huge movements of people in Western Europe , The U.K. is now very much a nation of many nations , and IMHO it’s what make this country still GREAT Britain .

  7. Whilst I agree that £4 for water top up seems excessive I can understand why the current owner feels the need to charge this much , firstly the cost of purchasing the equipment which was made necessary as the previous honesty box payments were far less than the actual water costs and the need to recoup monies lost by previous non payment.

This was told to me by the current owner/operator when he installed the meters.

So yes £4 is excessive but if the end users had been honest and paid the former £2 charge when they used the facilities the meters wouldn’t be in place and the cost would have been lower.

  8. You also have to remember that the air draught on the majority of hire boats is higher compared to the 60’s .

B.A. proved on her last outing that Wroxham bridge is “doable” with the correctly designed boat , that said Potter Heigham seems to thwart even the best designed boats nowadays
