  1. The rapid change over to online shopping which was fuelled by the covid pandemic , which IMO accelerated its growth by at least 20 years , means the High Street in thousands of towns and cities has changed forever .

We see an abundance of food outlets , charity shops , betting shops and pop up shops where once a household name traded , on every street corner in cities we see chain coffee shops the days of colourful vibrant streets with stores offering their wares have all but gone with a few niche streets reminding us of “the good old days”.

  2. Before we get into a he said , she said argument on here , irrespective of any prior history involving the anglers or the boat owner , the behaviour of the anglers as shown on the video falls far short of what one would or should expect .

As our Chairman has politely requested please can we stay inside the TOS when posting on this matter

edited  to add , my posting obviously crossed over that of Grendels and I share his sentiments

Sorry I thought there was talk of you exchanging it for a smaller one. I will give you a PM next time I'm near our boat if its still available.

We haven't been to Norfolk much last year. Other things and health have kept us away.

    Kindest Regards Marge and Parge

Wondered why we had not “bumped into you “ lately , hope you’re both well and that we will see you afloat soon

6 of 1, half a dozen of the other. The boat is untolled so technically has no rights.

If a boat owner pays monthly it will show as unpaid , best not to assume please

  5. The vast majority of anglers we have encountered over the years have been very good in moving to allow us to moor up , in fact in 30+ years we have only had issues twice , we often offer the anglers (once we have moored) a cuppa as do many other boaters .

The Broads ARE on the whole a friendly sociable place , idiots like those in the video are rare .

  6. Before we bought Cerise Lady we looked at quite a few Elysians and the majority had sea toilets fitted as opposed to holding tanks , many were also petrol engines which if you are intending to use on the Broads can be problematic as there are no petrol fuel suppliers on the Broads network

  7. I noticed that the navigable miles listed for the Broads was 125miles , I presume this includes the reaches upstream of Potter Heigham bridge and Wroxham bridge which are not accessible to the majority of river craft for 6months of the year if at all .

The total IMHO should be given as nearer to 100 miles

we have just paid our annual tolls on Pipedreams which is £554.10 this year and for an inflatable tender and outboard is £92.35 meaning a total of £646.45 or £6.46/mile of accessible navigation making the Broads dear compared to the other waterways listed

The fact is, and yes I was JCB driver who ditched for a living, all these works are very, very expensive. And getting more so because of the skills shortage.

Take the roads for example, I can tell you the list for upgrades, pot hole repair and maintenance is scary but the budget is shrinking made worse due to the cost of labour and importing materials that we just don't make here.

So much like The Broads, we deal in emergencies, a little planed work for safety. The big stuff has to be okayed by the government who funds that

This country is now in recession and folks, how much does the country want to pay? not a lot

Whilst I fully agree with your sentiments , it is ridiculous that “those in power” fail to grasp that maintenance is far more cost effective than repairing when broken .

  9. Back in the wet shed now after an enjoyable week afloat , a few more hire boats about as the week progressed .

We spent today in the company of our youngest son and his partner , and it was by far the best weather over the last week , afloat again in a couple of weeks

  10. Hankered down yesterday at Horning during the high winds , left at 8:30 this morning , travelled up to Womack unfortunately the moorings were near as submerged so moved on , decided to go back up the Ant we caught a lull in the rain and dropped screen etc to clear the bridge which was showing 7ft0” roof/screens  back up and now moored up at Neateshead , a couple of other boats here and a few hardy anglers .

White Horse this evening I think

  11. We carry a couple of spares and if our visitors are bringing youngsters with them we ask at Richos and they have always kindly loaned us the appropriate size if they are too small for the adult spares we have

Aw, that's a shame, I understand. Looks like you're on the middle section? Nice quiet spot. If I was still there I'd nip up to the F and F and bring a Notfolk Nog back for you :default_beerchug:

Fortunately I have a gallon or two of Abbott Ale to sustain me on board
