  3. Any broads based forum member, please post pictures of any snow, would be lovely to see, only ever see the area in the summer
  4. This one could divide the forum........ I would come back as Wroxham bridge and lower myself after boats had come through, for no other reason than comic effect
  5. Can we hope for a Christmas video aboard Broad Ambition ? or will all future video blogs be Independence related ? i don’t have a problem with either, just wondered
  6. Hot Peas and Cockles is a very dangerous mixture or so my wife claims
  7. We are back from our short break, We arrived in Oulton at 12.15 midday Friday, check in wasn’t till 4pm but we tried our luck at reception, they very helpful and allowed us to check in straight away lovely little 2 bedroom lodge, very clean and warm cost was £175 for a 3 day weekend break a quick unpack and off to Great Yarmouth for bowls of Hot Peas from the market stall, my record is 7 bowls, this time 3 was enough (i’m pretty sure it’s a legal requirement to eat Hot Peas immediately upon entering Yarmouth) as we had fish and chips planned for tea (don’t argue with me, it’s tea and not dinner) to the lodge for a chill and a walk round the Marina and park, it was now fish and chip time, we went to The Mermaid, well the smell of the frying oil should have been enough for us to turn and walk back out but no, we stuck with it haddock and chips for me, Cod and chips for my wife two people working in the chippy, neither could speak much English and the price was presented to us on a calculator with a smile, we paid up and waited for the meals, we didn’t time the wait, but it was a lot longer than you would normally expect to wait for fish to fry, took it back to the lodge, we ate a few chips and very little fish before we looked at each other, packed it back up and out to the bins it went. Saturday morning we took a stroll to The Wherry for their breakfast at £7.99 each very good value and it keeps me going till the evening meal, we just chilled after that as that was the general plan for the weekend, but had The Copper Smokehouse booked for 6pm, well you just can’t have a bad meal there, as always service and food excellent Sunday morning more of the chilling till late afternoon check out, we could have stayed till Monday 10am but work commitments put a stop to that. would throughly recommend Broadlands looking for a cheap get away
  8. I’m a School caretaker and am currently still wearing shorts, however I don’t think it will be long before the long trousers get a dust off anyone else still in shorts ?
  9. We are staying in the lodges next to the marina for this weekend, can’t wait to be near the water again, might even hire a day boat if it’s not raining we also have Copper Smokehouse in Oulton booked for Saturday theres talk of snow !
  10. Any plans for spending a week onboard Robin ? Must be very frustrating only being able to stay for the weekend, I’d be tempted to pull a “sickie” Come on people, let’s give Robin ideas, what illness do you need for a week off ?
  11. I agree, this should be strictly Robin’s adventures aboard Independence
  12. For me the Sonar system you plan to install is far too dangerous, I’d spend far to long looking at what is beneath me than what’s in front of me !
  13. Ahh so it’s not a silt build up causing the high water at spring tides, it’s all your stuff !! Lol
  14. Click on my profile “about me” very similar thing happened to me
  15. My thread “car in the Bure since 1991” after a few commented has got me thinking.... what things have people dropped in the rivers and broads ? what have you heard that’s been dropped or even thrown in ? and has anyone ever managed to recover anything ?
  16. No matter how good the technology goes into making the new notes, there will always be someone somewhere who can copy it thats not just bank notes these days anything can be copied, I rarely buy from eBay now.
  17. Out of interest, do you need permission to place someone’s ashes on the Broads ? and if so, who
  18. That’s weird, at 12.30 on that day I thought of you Robin and your adventure, wondering how it was all going the very time you was aboard and making this video ! Suggestions for tender names, the obvious being “day” How about “Shelia” that way she’s with you if she likes it or not or if your a fan of Donna Summer ‘State of” after her 1982 hit song putting my hand up as crew, I don’t know much other than can handle the sea after being a deep sea fisherman many moons ago Good luck in this fantastic adventure, roll on the next video instalment
  19. I don’t know, I used that as a heading purely to start a topic, no truth at all in it, I would imagine it went in the water not long after being stolen
  20. I’ve been checking this forum more today than I ever have hoping to see “the tour of independence” video blog
