The power stations which power the oil refineries?
Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app -
The thing people forget about electric vehicles is that it cuts out the network of fuel tankers, and the pollution and danger that goes with them.
And is the energy used to generate the electricity much different to that used in refining oil?
The other benefit is air quality in cities, and if the UK would introduce mandatory solar installations on new buildings (particularly commercial ones) there would be a lot less dependence on fossil fuels.

An excellent result for the Skipper of Comet, all things considered!

Have you considered a Calypso? They're a very spacious boat for their size and good side decks on them too.
These ones sold a while ago, but give you an idea of the space

To screenshot on your iOS device, simply hold down the home and power buttons together. When released you'll see a 'flash' effect on screen and the image will be saved to your gallery. Thanks Grendel.
I'm not actually using any emojis at all. It's hard to describe the problem because I can't easily screenshot my phone like I could my computer, although I suppose I could take a photo of it with my camera.
Best way I can describe it is ... if you click on the icon on the posting window to see the emojis, but instead of choosing one, hover over it and you will see the text that you can type to call up the picture. I'll make one up so it hopefully doesn't put anything in ... ":_sunshine_rain:"
Where anyone has used an emoji in their post, I see the text instead of the picture. That makes the posts very hard to read because the text sits everywhere the picture should be.
Here's another made up example that might give you an idea.
Today I went to :default_garden: to get some :choose_a_flower: but all I could find was a :two_petals_123:.
Hope that nonsense makes some sense!!

No that's not the route. I've marked it in red. The missing link to the west is a short detour via Weston Longville.
Google Maps will show you the route, but failing that the orange route will probably be a faster one to Ricko's than the one TomTom has shown you - assuming you're travelling at the weekend.
I'm not a fan of TomTom these days, mine has been in a drawer for about two years.

Did not get to try it out last night as we were late leaving home. Nor did I visit Taverham either. Next time maybe

Coming from your direction, it makes getting to the Broads quicker. You just have to take a daft detour via Weston Longville, but Google Maps will sort you out.
It's more of a hassle going back up North.

Yeah they're not bad. Lower air draft than the sedan, but more than some.
The ex Woods one with the Nanni looks lovely.

Google Maps have now added the rest of the A1270 so that should improve things.

It was sold, and as far as I know it's still on the Broads.
The owner was related to a member on here.

It was just a guess, but having done a bit of research The engine alone is 9k (gulp!), so yes most likely substantially more than 10k with fitting and perhaps a new gearbox, mounts, couplings, prop etc.
Well at least he got 40 hours use out of it
I'd guess at about £15K fitted, plus any additional work..

Good news for the next owner though, that engine alone has got to be 10k fitted.
And the rest...

A Renown 36, no less.
No you don't see many of them these days! Frequently mistaken for an Ideal 40, but a rather different boat.
-
It's only an R22!
That is a completely mad boat though. Can't understand why it's so stubby... Shorter and longer would have looked more elegant?
-
They are VERY spacious though!
The difference in interior space between that and an AF38 or an AF38 Pearl is considerable.
Woods have a Pearl up for sale too, although it's not the nicest ex-hire one you'll ever see.
-
Yeah it's probably a bit overpriced, and no I don't think anyone ever bought one for its performance. The hull I think must have been designed by the neighbouring Parker's Skip Hire rather than Aquafibre

And also an Entrepeneur...

They're the most spacious 38ft boat you will find, though the hydrodynamics of the hull leave a little bit to be desired. Also the step up from the companionway onto the starboard deck from the cockpit is one of the maddest bits of design I've seen on a boat.
-
Woods have another Westward here https://www.watersidemarinesales.co.uk/boats-for-sale/westward-38-heatwave.html
Same year, but rather less upgraded.
-
Not many. And a Westward... Never.
QED.
-
I wouldn't say bridges were not an issue - The Westwards have quite a high sheerline and a fairly rectangular cross section. I would think Potter was completely out, which is probably not the case for a Pearl.
On the other hand, yes that boat does look to have been loved, and there's quite a lot of space aboard. The addition of a Nanni N4.50 is very much a plus, too.
-
Not sure exactly what your needs are, but this seems like quite a lot of boat for the money...

Do you mean the centre-cockpit AF38?

Not sure on iOS, but on Android you tap the post and then there's an option in the bar on the top to edit it (spanner and screwdriver), and then a pop-up appears from which you select 'Edit post'.Typical. I typed the code and the picture appeared but everywhere else I can only see the code! And then I couldn’t find a way to edit my post. I think this is a thumbs down and I may well uninstall it.Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
It's only allowed within around 10 minutes of your original post.

Emissions control systems on diesel vehicles are an absolute joke (in my opinion).I have to laugh sometimes ..........we have a fleet of new trucks ( euro cat 6 ) use three times more adblue than the older version same fuel economy - more or less but the interesting part is when they choke up they throw themselves into limp mode untill you re-gen them - which involves parking up for just over an hour switch on the re-gen mode the sit there with the engine revving its nuts off whilst spitting adblue and diesel into the box of tricks attached to the exhaust system generating enough heat to burn off the soot then chuck it out there anyway ............oh really how is that saving the planetperhaps we are being conned again me thinks
finny
All they really achieve is to make diesel cars much less reliable than petrol - Unless regularly driven long distances at a decent speed.
Perhaps that's the aim, though. I don't think any car manufacturer actually wants to sell them any more, and modern small-displacement turbo petrol engines have low emissions.
And that's what it's all about - Manufacturers are fined by the EU if the average CO emissions of the vehicles they sell are above a certain level.
This is where manufacturers like Toyota have been very clever with their (extremely reliable) hybrid system, which has market appeal at last and drives their average CO emissions nice and low. And it's protected by so many patents that no other manufacturer can come even close to copying it. VW's workaround for hybrids is laughable in comparison.
Others like Ford have had to go to all sorts of lengths to avoid the fines... I'm told they actually stopped making 2 litre diesels for a period of time in order to avoid the fines for that period. Customers were told some old pony by the dealers and nobody was any the wiser...

Electrifying News From Goodchild

And that's where the UK needs to shift away from coal-fired etc.
If every new build house had to have a few KW of Solar on the roof, and new factory and office buildings had to have them on the roof then we'd have much less reliance on power stations.
The installed cost is low as a percentage on housing so why are we not doing it?
