  2. The problem is that they all look the same to me and the CE mark doesn't have any meaning as they aren't regulated yet to a ce standard, you can only hope that a proper trader ie Brain Ward    ,Bedazzled and others know  what they are selling.  Ebay/Chinese ect i would be wary of. My new build nine years ago was supplied by Bedazzled  with 22 led lights  with no issues so far.John

  3. Hi Maurice Some cheaper leds do not have protection , and can catch fire,we had one of these, found it in time. The dearer led's have spike protection and are fuzed they also don't cause interference on radios etc and last longer, For a fuller information on this Google Bedazzled Led's   site for a fuller information. 4. Yes by all means warm a box/engine up before draining oil this will flush any dirt ect out with the oil and is best practice, cold oil will give a lower level then warm/hot oil, which expands with increase in temperature,  mechanical devices are built/designed by engineers for repair/service by engineers, it all goes wrong when DIY novices get involved,BUT!! we all start somewhere .John

  5. She was scraped some years ago she was indeed moored at Reedham near New Cut mouth for a long time sinking and being pumped out by fire brigade, she was a w ii gun boat originally i believe.   her owner bought the Waveney River Centre which he then sold and retired to Stokesby.. John

  6. The water pump would normally be fitted at the water tank pushing water through the system open hot tap water would flow to calorifier then to hot tap. open cold tap water flows straight from water tank water to cold tap, water could heat be heated in cold pipe if adjacent to heat source but it would only be a small amount, this is assuming that the water tank is not being heated by close proximity to a heat source ie engine or exhaust pipe in which case insulate the pipe with armaflex.John

  7. Why do the bridges stick? there must have been hot days/weather in the past 100 years if they didn't stick then why do they stick now,yes bearings locking latches do wear but wear usually means they become looser, bearings excepted. So did they stick in the past? if not what has changed!!. i remember some time in the past a bridge operator was claiming that he could fix it with a angle grinder but was not allowed to as he wasn't a engineer. I cannot believe the weather   is hotter now then when i was a school child./teenager.  John

  9. Hi John I use geocel 201 it's a frame sealer that's uv resistance it sets like a hard rubber if you place under a fitting don't tighten leave a little loose then when it has hardened of screw up tight, oh and don't forget a smear under the screw heads.John

  10. Hi Robin The post from IPA is what i have fitted to my boat, covers temp control and max amps control no need to touch alternator or alter it.   Ref heating recycling the air in Independence from under the seat i would guess is for air con, Cars can recycle air from interia when outside dust /smells ect or fresh from outside that is (pure).  getting air from engine bay i would expect it to  be smelly even if engine is of.   air from outside would be better BUT the intake needs to be positioned so no fumes from adjacent boats aren't sucked in or indead your own exhaust should you be static running,  also the noise of air being drawn in through grill. John

  11. It will very good to have a stretch of B A moorings with proper posts and flat level path,i have only ever found mooring available on other side of river, no posts, long grass and uneavan bank, walk way and if there is coffee and ice creams for sale all the better. And now that we can call the broads a National Park there could well be outside funding for the building which might have elson dump point if public toilets are built which will need mains sewer connection, which will then leave the BA being able to increase 24hr moorings along the whole length of bank.John

  12. I have Multi cell batteries four in parale now four plus years old never had to top up the electilite level yet (i do check) But i do have a  extractor fan that runs while engine is running and has a timed delay that continues to run after engine is switched off this has reduced my engine room temp by 45 degrees. John

  13. Hi Robin If you get a Sterling advanced digital alternator regulator it will fool the alternator into charging its max subject to batt temp and alternator temp it has a sensor wire to both the batt and alternator and adjusts the charge so to not overheat the batt and alternator. Alternatively you could have a Alternator to battery charger which can take the power from two alternators and adjust the power to all the batteries giving priority to the starter batteries first, this what i have, theres no change or addition to alternator wiring there for there is no warranty issues. Just fit and forget except you still have to run the engines for the time required to fill the batteries full, but it is the absolute minimum hrs running if you wish to run static and there's no shore power avalible .John

  14. Hi Paul First of all do you need heating and cooling? If so the best unit(often the dearest) works out to be the cheapest, and most reliable in the long run for max enjoyment and no hassle,That's providing! off cause you are keeping the boat and not bogging for a quick sale.John

  15. No Ray You should approach slowly, line up to centra, check bridge is clear, when one boat length away the open up to full throttle,, it's not how fast you go it's how much water you can displace under the boat to lower it, by max revs slow boat speed. if there's  not much clearance. I f a  big gap just go briskly and steer straight all the time.John
