Day 5
The weather was much better today. The roads no so much. We did actually get stuck on a lane that was not wide enough this day. A long reverse back up a windy hill to find somewhere to turn around and we were soon back on track again and heading for Perranporth.
A Texaco petrol station car park was our overnight stop tonight. We go to all the best places
We had a good laugh about our predicament over a few beers :)
And found an excellent Indian takeout. Definitely on the list again for the next visit to this neck of the woods.

Day 4
A real wet day today and a bit of a waste of a destination as we didn't really see much it was so wet. Tintagel was the destination. We did make it to the pub at the car park entrance but really that was all we saw of what I am sure is a very nice place. The walk to the castle will have to wait for our next visit.

We have recently enjoyed a couple of weeks on the Devon and Cornwall coast with the van. The weather was a bit hit and miss at times but on the whole for the time of year it was a cracking 16 days away.
Day 1
The long drive from Worksop to Watchett.
We were lucky to get parked in one of the two designated motorhome parking bays. Plenty of other vans turned up after we got parked and had to go and find alternative parking.

I don't think that is what I would call "luxury" in a boat, but then perhaps I am not the "market" that they are seeking to attract? I wish them luck with it. Certainly a very expensive investment.
I have found that day boats will only make a commercial turnover if they have a "captive audience" at big centres like Wroxham or Potter, where day trippers gather by road. You are never going to make money out of a day boat if it only goes out on Saturday and Sunday. They have to be out all week.
They can be a useful addition to an existing business, especially if you are offering chalets and houseboats on the same property. They are also very labour intensive and usually have members of staff employed solely to look after them.
As I said, I wish them luck with it. Why not?
Funnily enough we were looking at these day boats at the weekend. They are something that we could well consider to keep in the garage at home and tow around as we want it.
They are not as expensive as they look. The yard will certainly recoup their purchase price very quickly at those hire rates!

Just up the road from us. We often take the dog for a walk there.

24 degrees here this morning. Isn't forecast to get much hotter today so hoping that the house cools of a little while we are at work.
It was still 31 in the bedroom and 30 in the kitchen this morning which wasn't pleasant.

Currently 39 outside in Sheffield its going to be an hot night tonight they are forcasting still 30 at 9.00 pm
They are forecasting that it could well hit 42 in Worksop before 5pm!!
It looks set to cool down a lot quicker overnight tonight though. Will be down to 20 degrees by morning which will feel cold after today!!

The car and garden thermometer were both reading 37 degrees here in sunny Worksop yesterday evening at about 6pm when we got home from work.
The house was hot hot hot. 31 degrees in our bedroom last night not much cooler this morning.
Back in Sheffield now at work and half an hour ago the car reckoned it was 26 degrees already.
It was unbearable in this office yesterday so not sure how we are going to go on with it being another 5 or so degrees hotter today.
Think Worksop is forecast to be one of the hottest places today. Deep Joy!!

Make sure you put plenty of sun cream on!

We are hoping to get down that way in the van next summer.
Never made it by boat.

Sounds and looks like you had a brilliant time - and even better weather!
The weather was amazing. Really made the trip.
Glad we have come back before it has got really hot though. It was nice to be able to get out and about without it being too hot for the dog.

Day 8
Pretty uneventful day really. We had a two hour drive home in light traffic, unpacked the van and got the weeks worth of washing washed, line dried and put away.
A jerk pork rotisserie on the BBQ finished off what has been a brilliant holiday.

Day 7
Back onto the mainland today. We had just enough time to visit Quarr Abbey before heading to the ferry terminal. We will certainly visit here again the farm shop is amazing.
It was a lovely smooth ferry crossing and then we had a two hour drive up to Chipping Norton CCC site which is right next door to Jeremy Clarksons farm shop Diddly Squat. So of course we had to call in.

Day 10
A visit to Charlestown, Mutton Cove and then onto the park and ride we were staying overnight at in Plymouth.
This was the only night we had a really bad nights sleep with boy racers in the car park pretty much all night. Which was a shame as it was a really handy location.
