  1. Sorry to have missed the ride but no paparazzi boarding passes issued.
  2. Hi David, Pleased you are enjoying Goosander as much as we do. How did you find the torture chamber in the cold weather? Any tips for a warmer exit from the steam? (Un)fortunately Bridgestone is only a stones throw from home for us. Weve become quite a regular visitors since moving here at the beginning of 2018. Never been disappointed yet, lovely friendly staff too. We are going to have to control our visits or Goosander will be in need of some extra bouancy. Jen & Roy
  3. Hi Fred Thanks, didn't like to do it without asking first. Yes we did realise it was you. Your single handed stern on was impressive, you didn't need any help. Always nice to have a bit of a yarn with a fellow boater. Jen
  4. We live a few yards from the beach. It's not feeling very warm here today. I'm sitting in the conservatory listening to the waves crash on the beach toasty inside, cold and damp outside. lucky so and sos aren't we? Best of both worlds the beach right here and the beautiful broads only a few minutes away. Believe me we do realise how privileged we are.
  5. We've lived in Norfolk all our lives, We're used to it. I'll take extra socks in January. We live only 15 minutes from Goosanders mooring in Horning so if the worst happens we can chicken out and go home to sleep. Like that's going to happen.
  6. Hi All Goosander is just right for us as a couple. Not sure we're up to anything bigger just yet. We're quite new to the world of syndicate boating. Last week was only our second week. One in August which was boiling hot and this one when I slept in my socks every night except one when they came off and it was too cold to get out from under the duvet to find them. We enjoyed every minute despite the inclement weather conditions. We're looking forward to our next week....another cold one I expect towards the end of January.
  7. Hi, That's us on Goosander. Saw you snapping us. Hope you enjoyed your break as much as we did. Lovely picture. Do you mind if we print it?
  8. Yes I agree the apron will be missed. My husband walks every morning from Rudrams Gap either towards Walcott or Mundesley. He often uses the Coastal path when the apron is covered by the sea or impassable due to beautiful rough waves. Think of the added resistance exercise the sand will give. Over years the apron will no doubt appear again. The beach changes daily with the tides. We've seen many changes already and we've not been here a year yet. We used to live on the beach front at Heacham and have a seen similar situation twice in the 30 years we were there. The manual replenishment certainly seemed to work there. I wonder what the seals that come in so close to the shore will make of all the disruption of the works and also the finished result. Bacton is really a beautiful place to live and enjoy.
  9. As newish residents of Bacton I feel a comment is brewing. We live a few yards from Rudrams Gap and certainly hope the sandscaping will only be of benefit to the village. Its purpose is to protect the gas terminal and all of us from the ravages of the sea making Bacton a safer place to live. We want to be able to live here safely for many years to come. The beach will be more easily accessible without the 20 foot drop from the apron to the beach in places, evolving from the Beast from the East earlier in the year. Yes the beach will be shiney and new but this is a bi-product of the protection given by the sandscaping. We will be able to walk along the beach on the sand without climbing over the exposed 8 foot breakers which at the moment means the only time we can walk along the beach is at a very low tide. We look forward to being able to launch our kayaks without hauling them off a very high wall onto the sand. Of course the main reason is to protect us all but there are other benefits to be gained in the process.
