  1. Maybe not photos as they dont seem to want to upload.

Essentially the maker mark is a red crest with a white house. The name is in black on a gold background.

The rod is green with red trim. 9ft long ledger rod with a screw tip. Material is unknown. The rod bag is pale blue.

  2. Hello forumites. I along with 2 friends bought a joblot of fishing gear yesterday and one of the rods included I'm hoping someone on here can tell me more about.

The rod is marked BERNARD SEALEY, TUDOR WORKS REDDITCH and then Sensitip 9 is engraved underneath.

Green rod, with a cork handle?

The rod bag has East Anglian Rod Company Ltd on it.

Attached are some photos. If anyone knows the rough age of the rod or any info it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance Branden :-D

  3. I think you did the right thing Gracie even if it was a different outcome than you'd predicted. This isn't an exact science but you tend to find the ones that ask for change will spend it on things to block their mind and the ones that dont ask spend it on food.

You must remember there is alot of help out there for the homeless nowadays so they aren't all as in need as they seem.

Offering help to someone is always commendable, but some people dont want the help or wont do anything to help themselves.

  4. Of course as an alternative you could use a nicer colour, more in keeping with the surroundings - perhaps it is a shame boats are not "listed" and then you would have to!!!!!!!!

I find the thousands of Blue and White boats very boring and highly uncreative. For me if I'm going to spend my time and money on my own boat then why not make it a colour thats unique and i find pleasing.

I must add that i was hoping for a more pastel purple than the homebase one i added a link to.

I should add that my boat is currently a horrible yellowy brown colour which is different from all the boats around it.

Thanks for the advice forumites, i'll look into some of the suggestions.

  5. Hello all.

It's been a while since i last posted on the forum ( I've been busy prepping the boat), basically I need some advice about Purple paint for a boat.

I've scoured the internet and cannot find Purple paint specifcally for marine use.

So far the only purple exterior paint i can find is

    http://www.diy.com/departments/dulux-made-by-me-interior-exterior-purple-passion-gloss-paint-750ml/184201_BQ.prd?gclid=CKy9-9WWv8ICFfQatAod6GQAiQ&ecamp=SEAPLA184201_BQ&ef_id=Uq@SXgAAAW15GVMh:20141211234846:s

Would this be suitable for use on a boat topside.

I have started all the prep work already, the downside is i will have the boat out of the water for 2 weeks in mid february which weather wise isnt the best time for painting but is the only time I will have to do it.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Branden :-D

  6. Very quick update due to the time. The kitchen unit is finished and dash area has been painted. Quite happy with the unit as it was made from old scraps of wood and gives a lot more internal space. Currently making a roof hatch out of a sheet of wood I've been given. Once installed I have a gadget I've been playing with to mount to the boat which will sit in front of the hatch.

Roof lining has just been ordered. I won't say what material as it's an odd one and if it doesn't work I'll keep it quiet ;).

Due to a lack of time this boat seems to be taking a very long time to get it finished so next years jobs will hopefully be the exterior restoration including a re paint, new wood framed windscreen and possibly a hard top roof over the helm.

I'll be sure to keep you all updated.

    Kind regards Branden :P

  7. In reply to Manko I believe we have a lot more incidents in the basin than the main part of the island from smaller craft, mainly from small craft mooring alongside either to fish or gain access to the land for supplies such as firewood. It has never been a major issue as most ask first and its not an issue. My issue this time was that I went down my boat to find the small craft chained to my rails and a pile of firewood on my roof and the subsequential damage. If the person in question had moored behind my boat to use the decking to gain access to the land there wouldn't of been any problem atall.

99.99999999% of people would of apologised but I received the polar opposite response to this.

I don't wish to Hijack this thread so this is my final comment.

    Thanks Brandenjg

  8. Slightly off topic ...I also moor on the island and had one of the dinghys from the other side of the island chained up to my boat. When asked if the owner of the boat had permission to moor on mine, walk on mine and drag scrap wood over my boat to load into their dinghy, The owner of the dinghy said yes, I said no... Get off my boat. I now have chain marks scored into the front of my boat and a scratched front window from where the wood was dragged.
99% of the islander are friendly approachable people whilst others are just *****.

  9. Was fishing at oulton a few weeks ago off the bow of the boat. My fiancee caught her first ever fish which happened to be a bloody eel :/

I caught a few roach and perch but nothing too great.

On the brighter side i have been catching a few too many bream from my mooring. In fact it seems to be the only fish in the waters at the moment (not that im complaining). Simply fished with pink n white maggots.

Redoing my decking tomorrow so i think a bit of fishing will be the order of business once its done :-D

  10. The idea behind removing the old unit was to be able to fit the toilet next to the unit. I tried modifying the unit to accomodate this but i had to remove the top and sides to fit it in, so the unit therefore had no structural integrity. It was a case of it being easier and cheaper to create a whole new unit.

  11. The DIY sink, total spend £9 ;)

Really simple to make with the right tools (which I didn't have)

£4 stainless steel bowl from various supermarkets,

    Circle cutting bit and drill

    File for the sharp edges

Sink plug £5 best price I could find

Some sort of silicone sealer found in shed.

Step one: mark the centre of the bowl and drill a hole through.

Step two: cut the correct size circle for the drain either with one cutting bit or drilling various holes in the circle then use a hack saw blade to cut between to the desired shape.

Step three: twist in the drain plug with some waterproof sealer between the layers.

    Job Done

  12. I seem to be having a lot of trouble recovering the photos so I'll start by uploading the odd ones from my phone.post-465-0-19064800-1406240807_thumb.jpg out with the curtains, in with the blinds post-465-0-43901700-1406240893_thumb.jpg

Here's the homemade sink and a very rough photo of the new layout. The kitchen has been removed and the toilet from the left hand side is now on the right, the kitchen unit attached alongside. This means a lot more room to move around inside.

The new kitchen unit is made from an old table for the work top and old cot sides for the doors.

Will upload better pics when I take some or recover the old ones.

  13. Hello all. Thought it was about time i added some posts to this. The dandy project is slowly getting there. The internal layout has changed and is at the stage of lining and painting , whilst the colour scheme for the exterior has finally been decided on ( just waiting for time off work to get started).

So far the spend has been well under £100 mainly due to recycling old parts and using scraps from the garden and friends. The simplest thing i made was a sink from a mixing bowl and its the part that for some reason i'm most proud of.

When i finally fix my cameras memory card (snapped off lock pin) i will upload all the pictures from the last 8 months ( it really has been a while).

    Thanks for looking

  14. Sorted :D. The problem was an easy fix thank god. The gear shift was detached from the arm, so when on the boat it was hidden from view hence why I thought it was changing gear when it was actually stuck In neutral. I've attached a photo of the part I mean incase it happens to anyone else. Thanks for the advice forumites Branden

P.s I've attached a photo of the prop section I clean with 400 wet dry sand paper.

  15. Hi everyone, I was meant to leave saturday for a week of cruising and fishing but my outboard wont go.

It starts first pull, idles perfectly but when put in forward or reverse gear and accelerated it revs up with no thrust to move the boat.

I've removed the prop to check for wear on the spline shaft and the hub washer and neither are damaged.

I've tried turning the prop by hand in gear and it spins both ways without major resistance but i can hear no grinding so cant imagine there being anything broken inside.

Could anyone have any idea what it could be as this is my only week of till june Next Year and i really want to get out on my boat.

    Thanks in advance Branden :-D

  16. Hi all, I've Just got back from a day down wroxham to pick up a new centre nav light. Turns out I've bought a tri colour one by accident :???: I'm hoping that I can still use the light and that it will confirm to the bss as I'm clueless about the bss rules on navigation lights.

Any help would be appreciated as I don't fancy a trip back to wroxham to change the light.

    Thanks forumites. Branden :P
