BroadScot
Nah Alan, for a start I aint seventy.....yet ! I have been on those cliffs though in the late 70's at Gorleston Golf Course. Very posh clubhouse. It had a sign in the locker room, stating, kindly do not wash your balls in the sinks ! Ruth was served the heavy daily papers,Telegraph etc on a silver salver, while I stood at the bar with the club Captain. Lovely course, a most enjoyable day out! ranworthbreeze
Hi Iain, I used to service four golf clubs in the Sheffield/Derbyshire area. What used to get me me was the segregation of the men's and ladies entrances into the clubs and their associated facilities. We only did one municipal golf club, the other were very eyebrow! Plenty of forelock tugging, back in the day when on site. Regards Alan

To my knowlege, Royal Troon are voting on July 1st regarding lady membership, the crazy bit is, the ladies are more than happy with the present set up with their access to the Club. They have their own clubhouse close to the Marine Hotel, and play most of their golf on Troon Portland as the RT course is too long and difficult, even off the LGU tees! I rate Carnoustie the hardest of all the championship courses I have played, with Royal Troon on a windy day a very close second! I have played all the Open courses on the mainland bar one, Royal St Georges, Sadly, Trump Turnberry will know longer be on the rota for obvious reasons !
