Antares_9
With most mobile 'phones, MP3 players etc. now being capable of being charged via a USB port I was interested to see this in one of my trade supplier catalogues, it wires into the 12vDC circuit and matches the other Berker AC mains, TV outlets etc that I use so will be a neat fit, I think I'll fit one to my ship to see if it does what it says on the tin. pks1702
Looks very useful when away from Shore Power
goodall_m1
Looks usefult for the boat-owner who wants USB power. For those of us without room to fit a dedicated USB socket (or in my case without a boat of my own to fit anything into!) I find this 12V to USB adapter useful: http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_3&products_id=110971 And at £2.99 inc postage it is very cheap. Came unstuck last weekend though, went out on an "Upmarket" boat with an invertor and 240 Volt sockets There wasn't any 12v socket! MBA Marine
check the voltage range it work on, when your engine is running your up to 14.5v ish if the unit needs a contant 12v then it might not like the extra voltage. If the unit needs a constant voltage it can still be done but you would need a voltage regulator.
Antares_9
The USB charger unit has an internal regulator and will operate from 10vDC to 16vDC.
