Andrewcook
As we have put forward the Clocks to Summer Time. What time does Hire Boats suppose to stop? Some Hired boats still Cruise when Sun Sets which means they are breaking the Insurance Rules as to Privates Boats going around with their Navigation lights on and therefore allowed to Cruise when Sun Sets DO the Hiring Yards stress that point to the Hiring Boaters? CeePee1952
Every time we've hired, the boatyards have always informed us to moor up ideally an hour before sunset. It's also written in the handbook that is usually on the boat. I think sometimes, hirers leave it to the last minute to get somewhere only to find there's no room left!! Then they chance it to get somewhere - not ideal!! Chris
RS2021
Ts & Cs for our forthcoming holiday says don't cruise after dark. On a normal day that would be dusk, roughly 1/2 hour after sunset. But, weather conditions could make it earlier and has been said you don't want to leave no time to find a mooring.
Broads01
Whatever the time of year, there always seems to be a hireboat still on the move long after dusk. When I was at Reedham on 8th April, a hireboat seemed to be looking to moor there about 7-40pm (the sun was just setting and there was plenty of space). Inexplicably though, they changed there minds and set off under the bridge. I saw them at Great Yarmouth Yacht Station the next morning - if they'd gone there the previous night they'd have arrived well after dark.
