A Bit Short!

I posted  photos  last week of the new bridge in Great Yarmouth. Known as the Herring Bridge.It appears that when closed, its 9 inches  short in the middle.Due to the cost of the bridge,it been suggested  that traffic  travel at 35mph to get over the gap.

So mind the gap!

Is that just enough gap for a good sailor to get the mast through without opening it.

I understand it is going to cost £5.00 to cross the bridge, £10.00 if crossing overnight!

Rumour has it that the 9" is to allow for expansion when subjected to adverse summer hot weather thereby negating the possibility of failure that often affects the Reedham and Somerleyton bridges
