  1. Hi Jonny, the photo was taken in October, she is not in a really bad way, there are 3 soft planks or parts of. The cabin sides were starting to show signs of the weather but since being in the 'wet shed' has dried quite nicely and will hopefully just need belt sanding and Varnishing, as will the hull as that has a dull wood preserver on at present. then the waterline will be red, the boot line white, decks dark blue and cabin top light blue or cream. the toe rail will just help me not fall in this photo was taken on the same day.. Perhaps I could start a restoration thread in the spring...
  2. Guys, I always wanted to get one back and one arrived at the right time! We are hopeing to spend some time on the exterior after Easter to make her 'shine' again, put some toerails on and make a new canvass/ wood wheelhouse canopy to replace the plywood contraption, then I can use her for the summer, Terry, if you buy me a drink we could use it in the renaming ceremony
  3. another great picture Terry, even the boat is special, BROADSVENTURE 12 we welcomed her back in September...
  4. That will be EX MGB 56 she is in the basin opposite the Townhouse in Norwich. More info here... http://www.bmpt.co.uk/forum_posts.asp?TID=285&PN=1
  5. just dont ask how it got there! you may find some info here... http://www.freewebs.com/masb32/ or more here...http://www.bmpt.co.uk/forum_posts.asp?TID=72 Terry, The Yare and bure pic must be good 'cos you took it!
  6. Hi Jim, Do you mean this one? picture taken in Gibraltar a couple of years ago... MASB S32 (motor anti submarine boat) or should that be anti sailing boat?
  7. Here is one with a telegraph pole on deck, She was my Grandads Yare and Bure, sail no 43 'Eileen' now 'Wood Argus' Terry sent me this picture
  8. Hi Carol, reading back i was wrong to suggest the wreck is MTB 653, as you say she was moved south and it would have been unlikely she would have been moved back up. I suspect she was moved to Norwich when Frank Wild dug the basin at Horning as there would have been no access as previously there was a footpath along the riverbank from the thatched boatshed on the corner of Ferry view estate.
  9. Hi john, is it somewhere between Burgh St Peter and Beccles?
  10. A bulkhead from broadwind lives on in Brookwind from when she was broken! the owner of Broadwind abandoned her owing monies but returned to remove the engine through the side of the hull while she was on hard standing! I understand now regarding the originals. .
  11. Barry, How do you mean there is only Cassandra left now, do you mean of that particular class? we have had Brookwind in our wet shed for the last 17 years, Bubblegap was in amazing when she left the shed but that was a few years ago now, I think she is in Loddon now, we also have one called 'Muddy Waters' I am not sure what she was but is about 32ft? bright varnished and mid restoration looking fantastic. there is Merrywind with riverside boat sales and Lady Berol in Southampton (that is off the top of my head) I also remember one at Native yacht Co in Brundall a few years ago, she was in good nick but needed finishing.
  12. Great photos again Barry, There used to be a 'Windboat' similar to the one in your previous Picture of Ranworth, she was moored near Wroxham bridge years ago in the cut between the Hotel Wroxham and the car park opposite the Chineese which you cant park in now! I wonder what happened to her....
  13. Hi all, This picture was taken in 1949 in Oulton Broad for the Lowestoft Journal, the small boy (Bobbby Rudd) now in his 70s visited us last year while over fron Australia. The launches were Dads, not sure about the dingey, W63 was called 'Vivo' Left to right were.. George Pigney, Robert(Bob) Richardson, Arthur Skitterall, Regie Bullen, Jimmy ?..?, Bobby Rudd, Bert Gooch, Arthur Wigg, Arthur Moor. Sorry about the copy it is off a piece of paper with 3 folds in it! ..
  14. Hi Plesbit, I tried pausing it but they are a bit blurred, Dad did not recognise any so he thought it may have been after he sold in '58, also he had 33 boats moored from both sides of the river (he had Parkers old yard which he sold to Hamptons) That was a reason he moved as people complained about the narrow gap he left down the middle. I said they were probably out on hire and the boats on site were visiting?
  15. Hi, this is strange but as I was on the computer last night I saw a TV clip out of the corner of my eye, I thught it was Oulton Broad, so at work today I checked BBC iplayer, http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00drtpj/Ian_Hislop_Goes_off_the_Rails/ if you look between 29.40 mins and 30 mins there is a shot of OB in colour from what I think is the 50s not many painted hulls! It shows the reverse of the picture at the top of the page, hope you find this of interest.
  16. Crikey Terry, cant put much past you! I think the boats gave it away, I just noticed you got the middle boat spot on! I recon the year was about 1955, this 'New shed' was built then and I assume that is the reason the picture was taken. there were 9 yards and 1 house between the Wherry and the railway/road, Now just houses and a pub!
  17. Nope, they are not Ripplcraft, I recon if I said what they were it would give it away..
  18. Hi Jonny, worth a go, but not right this time.. Keep guessing. Clive...
  19. Hi here is another spot which looks different now, anyone know where?
  20. No problem, it has happened all my life, even my parents get my name wrong!! The building shop was put up about 1960, so you could be right, I have some other pictures which were probably taken on the same day so will have a look later. The 'building shop' was bought from Colemans in norwich (at least every other truss) dad said it was old then, he gave about £12 for it
  21. Terry, I thought it may be a bit easy for you or a private moorer, you can see a bit of the Granary on the left of the picture, as for the year unless you know for sure I would say '59 or '60. Well done
  22. you are right paul Stalham but where?
  23. Hi Jonny, thanks, My girlfriend scanned the picture for me last night and commented "ah, thats where you get your funny ear from" I did not realise it was funny I just thought one was less out than the other! that is the only picture we have of him. Clive.
  24. Hi Ian, The small print says 'R.K. obtained SILVER MEDAL AND DIPLOMA at International Fisheries Exhibition, London, 1883 for fishing boat on Norfolk and Suffolk Broads.' I think John Loynes got the gold but apparently there was some contoversy over this as Kemps was better! I think he built a boat too. funnily enough I was in a shop in Norwich about 10 years ago (Hovells)and saw the certificate for the bronze medal haning on the wall it looked the same as ours it is about 2.5x3 feet! the fishing boat is a real work of art. , Clive.
  25. Ok, this one should not pose too many problems.. there may be a bonus for nearest the year (I am not 100% sure of that)
