  1. Hi Donnygeoff, good to hear you are starting to fill your loyalty card, we give them away in reception so if you ask when you are there we will give you a card. I think air draft would be a useful bit of info, there is quite a bit on each description now but we are planning on revamping the presentation of the brochure so could find a slot for it. we have put a credit in the brochure but would like to publicly say thankyou to the forum member who very kindly donated his photos for us to use this year
  2. Hi thanks for the info, I know now where Turners was. I dont know of Janca, but I did know Spray, she lived in our wet shed for years, we did a fair bit of work on her in that time, she was owned by two doctors if my memory serves me correctly, she was very well looked after then. My Mums house was used in Swallows and Amazons, it was the house where the twins Port and Starboard lived, the BBC painted it from blue to black and it has been ever since. they also filmed some kind of court room scene in one of the rooms, you can tell as the door handle opens upside down! The white rat or hamster or whatever it was lived there for the duration of the filming!!! That was a long time ago, I have never seen it since it was on telly as we didnt have a video!
  3. Hi Carol, Thanks for that, glad I'm still learning
  4. Hi Barry, where was Turners yard? I have been in Horning virtually all my life but never heard reference to it do you know where Norada and Olive are being stored? I hope something happens with them soon as we all know what happens to wooden boats which are shut up and left
  5. what engines have you got? they may have scavenge pumps on them....

    Boat Names

When we sold an Atlantic from Horning the new owner called the boat Rollocks he had the name imaginitavely sign written and it was easy to read wrong. When she was moved to the Thames they were told to change the name
  7. oops, just realised they are both wooden I dont know which he built.
  8. I think you will find that John built her himself, I was speaking with him about the boat last week. (the wooden one)
  9. Hi, The Waverley did do trips but there is no info on the departure or destination ports when you click on them. they only list yarmouth and Southwold round here. http://www.waverleyexcursions.co.uk/
  10. Terry all the wooden ones are moored in the big basin under the river difference now is 75 full time staff as opposed to 120 then
  11. Hi Brian, I agree with all the good feedback about Richardsons and some of the bad. I would rather leave others to say wether our boats are good or bad though and wont comment on others opinions- same as holiday experiences. As for video, there will be space but I think we will hold off for a bit until it gets better and cheaper please dont ask me for pricing- call the booking office that is who I ask! as you say there is members chat for other stuff or private messages, if you want to know anything about the boats ask Dan , he knows more than most of us about them
  12. Hi Dan, thanks for that, you did read the back right, we do not have sailing boats at Stalham, just Acle. We are considering re introducing them to Stalham next year but we get a lot of broken masts due to bridges and it had been becoming a problem when we had to focus on other things. The wine voucher was offfered to us, some may find it useful, we make nothing from it, perhaps you will see some adverts or local business vouchers next year. with the Broads on a budget, we wanted to hilight the boats which were less than a tenner per person per night, as we feel the the broads should be enjoyed by all and not be perceived as an expencive holiday for the elite. We were slightly supprised at how many there were, but as you say they are good boats, the main concern is that we dont want to be perceived as a budget fleet (dispite the pricing) the website is being re-done (again) and should be full of internal pics of the boats. The new site will check availability and take online booking but I am not sure when that will be live, there will also be a new boat sales/ private moorings/ services site. Thanks for the feedback, it is good to get independant views on things we try and get things right but you cant do that all the time keep it coming.
  13. Hi, yes it is that boat, but lets not get too carried away, he will be on his own out there with no service or backup no trial run, I dont think there is even a tea towel, but I am sure he will be OK. Right, bring on the funny comments about the last line lol
  14. No problem Dan, I will reply to your email.
  15. Hi Dan, Sorry to hear about your struggle through the long 'off' season, If tou really cant wait 3 months and you dont mind a dual steer I could lend you Prisma (FOC) for the weekend but you would have to bring your own bedding! she has been kept operational for me to get to the Malsters for my Sunday carvery but things have changed.
  16. Is it on the river by Blackhorse broad?
  17. Thing is Terry, on your dash it says 'Will not normally pass under Potter' I will have to ask tomorrow as I have been close to death with some kind of 'man flu' - but worse As for setting trends, perhaps that is why so many modern designs have such little headroom lol
  18. Hi Terry, I had not heard the name 'lowliner' used to describe on of these before, however, I have heard a story about a 42 footer on which they missed the top plank off, they had to lower the floors to get the head room! apparently less of a problem at Potter I doubted this story as surely the frames would have to be cut off? mind you does sound a bit like Gerry, bless him. I will ask dad or one of the boys tomorrow. she was converted by Eric Cutting.
  19. Hi Jonny, As you say, she was moored on riverside for years, she had an interesting conversion done on her, unfortunately all the strength had been removed from her and none put back, that along with a fair bit of rot did not give her a chance. I dont know wether she was lifted with pumps or a crane..
  20. Blimey Terry, I doubt anyone else remembers the detail you can, I find it facinating as having never really seen two together I thought they were all the same! The blue boat at Wayford was bought back from the Thames about a year ago, there was another in Norwich called 'St Germain' I think Ex 'Lady Pauline' which belonged to a bloke called Nigel who lived on her in the wet shed, she was broken up by the Broads Authority after she sank near Thorpe about 8 months ago.
  21. Hello, This was the only other 42 footer I managed to find, probably a Broadsventure as there is evidence of canopy rails. I hope someone has a beter go at restoring her as the previous owner did not know what he was doing, I think she is or will be in the hands of the yard soon. She has 4inch paralell planking so no waste- what could be easier!
  22. Hi Jill, Thanks, I think it is a bonus they are nice looking boats (not in everyones eyes) Dad built them strongly with good materials to earn money hence there are 'no frills'. Chrome window surrounds for example, when these were suggested the decision was taken to use yellow paint click on the picture for a close up..
  23. Hi Barry, yes, she came from Mally in Wayford, he had lived on her for about 13 years after saving her from the bonfire hence the present name 'Phoenix' there is another there but too much for me as I want to use her next year... if you want a nice shed to work in £2.25 per foot per week will be the rate for 'DIY' that has not been advertised yet but is available. the shed can accomodate 4 boats.... better take that 'work'hat off now! lol
  24. Terry, I recon I should get you a drink, I seem to have hijacked your original topic and converted it into a 'Broadsventure' one :
