  1. Hi Mark, I hope I get to meet the M. I. L. why not call in to Horning by car and avoid rushing? 8-) you could also get a start going the right way down the bure for Breydon. The deli do some lovely Morroccan lamb Pasties too going fast(er) uses a rediculous amount of extra diesel
  2. Jonny, I cant see the Carribeans but there is a yellow Bermuda type 2 boats up from the two Calypsos. But I did cheat by looking out of the window
  3. Look closer Jimbo, I can see 2
  4. I think there are 4 Bermudas and 3 Calypsos in this photo taken yesterday, can anyone spot more?
  5. I hope she turns out nice, there are a few really special boats out there, in fantastic original condition, my boat has had the aft end opened out so is not going to be original but I dont want a 10 berth so she suits me fine, I just want to get out on her. Donnygeoff you are eagle eyed,
  6. Jonny, in the picture the tank is still in place, the bottom half of the pic is the bilge with the weed filter and the top half is the galvenised/rusty water tank. I will post a pic tomorrow with it removed.
  7. Hi Mark, 4th thats a Saturday you may catch me, mind you I dont know what I am doing next week, never mind April PM me nearer the time to remind me. I want to know what my treat could be
  8. Hi Jimbo, yes it does, the canopy hinges back on the uprights and lays on the rear cabin roof so that is good easy access.
  9. Mark, best phone a couple of days before you come and ask for Nigel, we may even call you before as we start getting a few underway by 1pm, this way we dont have 20 trial runs on the board at 4.30 and everyone waiting. we started this last year and it worked really well. It is not just my yard Dan knows about, it is just about everybodys, not just on the Broads, I only met him just before Christmas so did not know him, I suppose he is like some kind of boatyard stalker
  10. Yes, something like that but I doubt the rest of my family would credit me with the word 'work' 'Ricko' is short for Richardson. I still dont think I know as much as Dan
  11. yeah, once that contraption of a wheelhouse is removed she will look a whole lot better, also the photo makes the cabin sides look better than they really are and the other side faced the sun for 13 years and is not as good.
  12. Mark, Sorry, I forgot to mention that, most of the time the engine would not need to be run (laptop charging or short bursts of anything) but to power things like the microwave it may be best to run the engine to help the batteries and make them last longer while the 240V is not in use. Hope this helps. Best regards.
  13. Hi Mark, It is normally best to ask the right people, so I did! The inverters we use are good for a MAXIMUM of 2 KW they should blow an internal fuse if overloaded but generally dont - they break! Basically most things are fine, we are finding that some hairdryers are more like fan heaters and too powerfull and good hair straightners draw too much load, (but cheap ones are ok) Everything elce is generally fine except deep fat fryers electric fires and fan heaters. Have a good holiday, Best Regards,
  14. Jonny, this is being put up a bit early for you as you like resto's As a bit of a recap........... Broadsventure 12 reg T495. built By R. Richardson (pleasurecraft) Ltd. in Stalham, in 'The dinghey hanger' 1964 by Billy Webster. Sold out of the hire fleet roughly 1984. whereabouts unknown ultil 1994 she was reposessed as a bad debt in a poor state, engine removed an prepared for the bonfire. the last owner saved her, named her Phoenix but the reg had been given to another boat, he replaced lots of wood in her and lived on her for the next 13 years maintaining her well until he decided he did not want the hastle of a wooden boat anymore! Along came me searching for a Richardsons 42 footer, I found a good one and a bad one, unusually for me I did pick the good one but there is some work needed...... The first job is to get the engine and tanks out, not a big job so it was done this afternoon. The engine is to be replaced as it is a BMC 2.2, not a bad engine but increacingly difficult to get spares for and the water pump has gone, this engine will itself be used as spares now as we are often asked for things everybody elce has long since thrown away. A BMC 2.5 is going in for now as that was the original engine and we have a good one with a prm gearbox being removed from a Ultimate Gem! (they are also more fuel efficient tham modern engines!). There is also a cracked frame under the engine which needs replacing. The tanks are being replaced as they look about ready for replacement also the price of stainless is good at the moment and we make our own tanks there may be a bit of a wait before any more work is done as the hirefleet and private work takes priority.
  15. the bar looks like an angle like in the Swan
  16. Simon, Dont joke about these things, he probably does Hi Mark, I am pretty sure most things are fine on the system definitely the hairdryer and straightners, I had better be 100% before commiting on here but have never been told otherwise. I will post again tomorrow.
  17. Paul, We are very sorry to hear of your sad loss of Ray. Our thoughts go out ot Brenda and her Family. If when things brighten up a bit you would like to take Brenda out on a boat for the day, give us a ring when we are not too busy and ask for Brenda and we will be happy to help.
  18. Interesting point regarding bookings shifting to Rio at the expence of other boats in the fleet, the same can be said about introducing a new boat, generally it is your existing customers who book the new one which means you have to fill the weeks left on the boats they would taken out. We dont often reintroduce boats but have done this year, Prisma will be back in the fleet and is on the websites, also we have two Elysian/Bounty 27s suitable for the fleet but we will start work on them after easter between other jobs and have then ready hopefully for July.
  19. Simon, I understand your point of view but it is pointless going head to head with our letting agent, and Blakes. we get a second bite of the cherry while others are still chewing their first including the agents which is good for us. I think both methods work. please remember some yards do not bother with a brochure or leaflet, they leave it to the agents, As for the Rio, yes, she is basic but she is also cheap, lets see how she books. Hopefully if she does well some new customers will have been introduced or regulars bagged a bargain. Richardsons have always tried new and different things some work, some dont but we do try and we are still here!
  20. I remember Sea Hawk moored in Thorpe, she was being worked on by a chap called Ian I saw him again when I was looking for my boat and he told me she had gone down, I dont know wether she has been removed.. Sea rover was broken up on the concrete at Richardsons by Belaugh boats, the scrolled name plate was tied to the front of their landrover for years...
  21. surely sometimes you could possibly risk it?
  22. Hi donnygeoff. yes of course it can as long as the holidays have been booked in the same lead name. San Pedro, great boat, of all the boats I see on the river when I see either her or San louis on a sunny day I would normally rather be sitting steering that boat than where I am veiwing from
  23. Hi Simon, The loyalty scheme can be backdated but only to 1st March 2008 which unfortunately does not help you, sorry about that but the card also applies to our holiday sites where some people come 10-15 times a year! You do have a good point about the heights not neccessarily being on the same page as the boats descriptions, we will have to see how this pans out. I did read a post of yours somewhere, cant remember where about the timing of our brochure being 10 weeks after Hoseasons, this is for two main reasons, we pay Hoseasons to book our boats and are not really keen on competing with them, also historically a massive percentage of holidays are booked in January, this is when all the holiday adverts are on telly and having our brochure available could help our bookings. For people wishing to book early there is always the previous years brochure available and also the internet where we will soon be taking online bookings. I hope this helps.
  24. Hi I think Nigel did do something like that, I will ask. Hoseasons had square blue plaques made to state speed at specific enginc revs when the limits were last dropped, these had bridge clearances on them, I don't know wether other yards used them.
