  1. . I have no doubt that you are right John and that the people were speeding but the photos prove nothing but a bit of reflected wash and a strong tidal stream against. What happens if someone posts a pic of a boat claiming it is speeding when it was not?

    On Salhouse Broad??? :naughty::naughty::naughty:

  2. Hello Hockham Admiral,If you go along the Wensum through Norwich, as you get closer to New Mills Yard, the river gets shallow and is full of debris, such as shopping trollys etc. In this location at Easter I wrecked a new prop. and then aquired two woolen jumpers round the prop. Thankfully I could lift the sterndrive to clear the prop. Paul

    Thanks for that, Paul.. that we don't need.... how far can we safely go, please?

  3. We were slowly pottering up the Yare this morning on a calm and sunny morn...... It was idyllic!

    Indeed, probably the most satisfying sail we've had so far; wide river, lots of spaces everywhere, who would want more?

    Yes, I know it might not be as pretty as some of those Northern towns and villages, but the sheer tranquility hasn't been bettered in the past month! We even turned under the railway bridge at Thorpe (showing 7ft 6ins 3 hours before LW) and slowed down even further to view a little used part of the Yare. :clap:clap:clap

    As we started our boating at Brundall some 35 years ago it almost felt like coming home. :):):)

    Tomorrow we're going up the Wensum to New Mills; just hoping we may find somewhere to moor (near a pub)!

  4. I really don't like this growing trend of posting pics of people who have "apparently" transgressed in some way.Whilst I'm sure your observations are correct the pics prove nothing and only serve to embarrass those featured which is not the purpose of this forum ..... or is it?

    Lou, Hi

    I wasn't necessarily trying to get at anyone in particular; that's why I didn't give dates. No, I was just pointing out that it's not always the hirers who transgress............

    Indeed, if I'd managed to get pics of a private Fairline 24 we saw twice, on different days, I would most certainly have posted that!

  5. We were sitting quietly with a G&T this afternoon(at Surlingham) when Mary-Jane looked up and said:

    "That boat's going to hit us!"

    I turned around to see an Alpha 35CC at high speed in reverse coming in at 45degrees to the bank (and us)............... :naughty::naughty::naughty:

    It didn't slow down and indeed did hit us............ we bounced off the bank quite violently and I was rather rude to the skipper..... two gunstwo gunstwo guns

    He apologised profusely and said it was their first stop on their first trip on the Broads.... he also said that he'd missed the yard briefing which was given to his wife...
