I occasionally take a look at "The other place" just to keep an eye, and very occasionally see something that I think warrants discussion here. This link is to an EDP article that I feel qualifies.

I have my own views but will for the moment refrain from comment.  Well ladies and gentlemen, What think you.?

I found it an informative and interesting article, John, and I fully agree with JohnK's post above.

In one night they will not get barriers installed and working automatically, thats a dead cert. Unless the whole line has already been electrified signaling wise. It was still semaphore signaling when I was last there. At that time the gates were in an appalling state, so instead of renewing the wooden gates lifting barriers are likely just to replace the gates, interlocked with the old ground frame there just as the old wooden gates were. Also operated by the same staff in the same same way except they will no longer have to go out in all weathers to walk the gates across the road.

    Regards

    Charlie

That's exactly what they've done at Harling Road, just down the road from us on the way to the St George's Distillery!   :default_beerchug:

I rather think that at this time, when there is a possibility that things might be taken further, detailed discussion on public forum may be counter productive to Robin and/or Griff.

Without wishing to sound like a thread squasher, I feel that whilst we might talk in general terms about such situations, this incident in particular might be best steered clear of for now.

It is a very delicate balance that needs to be achieved between the freedoms of fair debate and the risks  of compromising (albeit accidently) another members situation.

Just my take on it, what think you?

    John, hi.

It can be moved into full members  if Vaughan, Robin & Griff wish?

  4. Haven bridge was always a problem in our yachting days (1985 - 2005) and Robin mentioned the tremendous tides both in speed and height range which kept him up most of the night.

The average air height at high tide is quoted as 9ft 6ins and our next boat, Friday Girl 3, had 8ft 10ins. So we were able to go directly underneath on return from abroad to Goodchilds and later Bells in Brundall.

Amazing achievement, did you see the vid of the 2 boosters landing, looked like a scene from a sci-fi film

Steve, hi, I did see that.

It shows the sequence from booster detachment to landing on the vid and explains that the central one ran out of fuel before it landed on the ship.
