After mooring overnight at Oulton yacht station me and my brother decided to go to Reedham for the day, so we set of nice and early to cruise down the New Cut to get there. It wasn't until we were trying to moor up at Reedham that we were informed by the nice little crowd on the quay front that we still had our mud weight down. On another occasion me and my mate were going to meet my brother and his better half at the Swan pub where they had driven up from London to meet us there. As we approached the moorings we spotted my brother sitting at one of the riverside tables . With my mate steering the boat I stood on the deck, rope in hand, redy to jump off and tie up. Everything went to plan apart from my landing. My feet hit the gravel and i ended up on my a**se with rope still in hand hanging on for dear life to the boat. As i stood up, to a rapturous applause from the Swans visitors, and a standing ovation from my brother, I tied the boat up and rather sheepishly went for a much deserved pint.

Did anyone watch the channel 4 programme tonight about the taxi firm in Norwich, a real eye opener but very funny with it

Going slightly off topic here but I am a cyclist and I obey the rules of the road and also don't like to see other cyclists jumping red lights but please don't paint all cyclists with the same brush. As a cyclist i have noticed dangerous actions being taken by motorists and pedestrians alike. I have been cut up many times when coming to a junction and cars have overtaken me and then turned left forcing me to brake hard or even go into the pavement, why can't they just wait a few minutes. The other thing that really annoys me is when there is a dedicated cycle path on the pavement why do people walk along that instead of the normal pavement. So you see it's not just cyclists who are at fault but other road/pavement users as well. Rant over. p.s. I totally agree that the cyclist involved in the rail crossing incident was being absolutely stupid and is very lucky to be alive

Hi John, she's a dawncraft dandy ( I know ,but someone's got to own them). There's some pictures of her in the new members section under the heading "newbie to this forum". Originally I believe there were inspection hatches at the stern but for some reason the previous owner decided to cover them over and fibre glass it to the hull.

Hi all, I'm having a lot of trouble with rainwater getting into the starboard bilge.I've had a look and can see where it's coming from but dont know exactly how to seal it without ripping up the floor. I've measured it back and it stems from the end of the cupboard containing the draining board. The floor of the cupboard is sealed against the hull so I don't really want to have to rip this up if I can help it. The thing that really puzzles me though is the back of the boat is completely covered so I don't know how the water is getting there in the first place. Any ideas would be gratfully recieved, thanks

Hi Alan, Yeah I've got that under the cockpit. There's a big gap underneath so i made a little door to block it off and make a handy storage space thats out of sight when sitting in the cabin. As for the curtains I was going to give the old velcro a try, a strip at the top and bottom of the windows

Hi Alan, what I was toying with regarding the curtains was to use velcro top and bottom of window. Don't know if it will work or not but might give it a try

Hi all, just a few more pics of the interior so far. Laid the carpet, now all I've got to do is the cushions,getting the fabric this week, curtains and the front window. I know I'm doing that a**se upwards, getting the furnishings done before the window, but I'm waiting for my brother to get a break from his work to help me do it and I'm impatient

Not really, I just opened a tin of spaghetti, had a go at unravelling that, and the rest was easy Seriously though it was a bit of a nightmare, especially as the only electric work I've done before is wiring a plug, but with a bit of googling on the internet and some valuable advice from forumites I got it sorted

I'm doing some final painting on the boat today so will get some more photos

Considering I knew nothing about refitting a boat I must admit I'm a little bit pleased with what I've done so far. The hardest bit for me starts now as I am definately no mechanic and I've got the outboard to sort out

thanks again Strow. It looks like I need one of those ball joints then. Also should the arm be at the top or bottom of the bracket and would this make a difference. Sorry to be a pain but as you've probably guessed I know next to nothing about outboard motors

Hi all, my mate helped me connect the steering cable to the outboard bracket but I don't know if it has been done correctly. When I turn the wheel one way it's fine but turn it the other way and it seems to touch the outboard stopping it going to full lock, if that makes any sense. Your help will be much appreciated.

Thanks for the help. The ebay one looked about right. At least I know the correct name of it now. I was typing in "steering linkage" and all I kept getting was steering cables. Again many thanks

Hi, I'm having a problem trying to get a bit of steering linkage for my Honda BF8 outboard. I've been on the Honda website but just can't seem to find the piece I need, I'm not even sure what the correct name of it is, so was wondering if anyone knows what it's called and where (hopefully in the uk) I could get one from. The part I need is the bit in the circle, not the cable the arrow is pointing to
