  1. Hi branden sounds like youve been busy. Cant wait to see the pics and to hear how you get on with the windscreen. As my perspex was cut too short im now thinking of fibre glassing a section down the middle of the window from top to bottom and making it into two windows instead of the one big one. Im just wondering if it will be strong enough.
  2. Managed to get the sheet of perspex to the boat without any damage only for my brother to cut it 1" short so it didnt fit. I cant put on here what i called him but it suggested my mum and dad wernt married when they had him. Plan b is now in operation.
  3. Today the new front window goes in. Should be fun with this wind i think
  4. Finally got the window seal for the front window, now all i need is a nice bit of weather to fit it. Ive got rid of the old alluminium one and went for a rubber seal hopling it wont be too difficult to fit it will post photo when fitted
  5. Hi Branden Ive put a couple of pics on here of my dandy named greigs spirit. Just put new deck on her ready now to give it a few more coats of varnish. Its one job after another but I am enjoying every miute of it.
  6. Hi Branden, I too have a Dandy that I am renovating so I am following your posts with great interest. I too was cosidering a hard top cover for the helm and I have been trying to figure out a way of using perspex so as too give good all round vision but its working out how to get the thing folded down for bridges etc thats got me puzzled at the moment, but I will persevere. I have been at the renovation lark for about two years now, she hasnt been in the water since I bought her, whitch brings me nicely onto a question for you. I want to put in two bilge pumps, port and starboard but as I dont know how she sits in the water Im not sure where to place them. I wanted to put them under the seats in the cabin but if she sits heavy on the stern it seems that this place wouldnt be a lot of help if any water got in. Any sugestions would be gratefully received. Well good luck with the rest of your refit and I look forward to reading all about it, and maybe nick a few ideas lol. All the best Jim
  7. Me and my daughter popped up to see the poppies at the tower last Thursday. It is definately an awesome sight to behold. Well done to the organisers
  8. Hi Steve, I wish I could get more at that price, ebay would be flooded with them
  9. Hi all I was thinking of getting a Royal camping toilet from Argos, priced at £69.99. As I work for Argos, with my staff discount and loyalty points I will be able to pick it up for £30. Has anyone had any experience of these toilets and are they any good?
  10. R.I.P.Bill. Me and my mate always made it to the Nelson when we were down south. Bill was a true character and a proper gent. My condolences to Ros and family
  11. Thanks for the help and advice. I'm afraid that the old frame is well past it;s sell by date so I will be going for the rubber option. As I'm working to a budget....ish my brother is giving me a hand to replace the window which will work out considerably cheaper, he's a builder and decorator by trade and said he will be able to do the job. Will let you know how it goes. Thanks again for the advice and links
  12. Hi all, I've finally got the front window out of my boat but the frame is in a bit of a state so will be replacing it with a rubber one (as in a car windscreen). What would be the best way of cleaning up the grp around the window apperture without causing too much damage to it? Thanks for any help/advice you may have
  13. I live in Rainham Essex so a 132 mile journey. As I don't drive I have to get the train that seems to take forever but it's worth it in the end
  14. That has got to be the best advert for the Broads i have ever seen.He made you actually feel as if you were on the boat with them. Brilliant video, shall now watch his other vids
  15. Senator I've not long come off the Port of London Authority website as I'm considering putting my boat on the Thames and it stated on there that sewage is not allowed to be released into the Thames. I don't know if this is a new law or not though.
  16. Thanks for reply. What I was really wondering is could I antifoul her months before she goes in the water or is it a last minute thing that you have to do
  17. having never antifouled before, my boat hasn't been in the water since Iv'e had her, when would be the best time to do it. I intend to get her in the water about march next year. Thanks for any advice
  18. That's the new motor for my dandy
  19. Thanks for the update Howard, sad news
  20. Hi all, as a dandy owner myself it was sad to see her marooned like that. Does anyone know if she has been re-floated yet?
  21. It's good news and I too would like to thank this forum for keeping us up to date about what was happening. Now that I belong to 2 forums I get double the fix
  22. Is this the boat you are thinking of. This is my Dawncraft Dandy which I think is rather cute in it's own little way
  23. Hi all, is anyone else having trouble connecting to the "other" Broads forum? I've been trying now for the last couple of days but can't seem to get connected at all
