  1. all sorted. It was just the filter. tank quite good no water in there and not alot of rubbish. thanks for everyones input and Wayne's help today.
  2. I am down to look at it tommorrow and I too think its an air issue, as the lift pump when I hand prime it pulls the diesel up easily so I would say the diafram is fine in the lift pump. the seal on top of the racor fuel seperator is quite hard which could maybe letting enough air in to cause the problem. But with my luck it will be the most exspensive option as always
  3. Hi I'm based at the wrc and I kept osprey in the water last year with heaters on and had no problems and some great weekends through the winter. I dont know where your boat is in the marina but at the coldest times last year the marina did freeze over. My boat was in the water for about a year when I had it lifted and on my boat there was hardly any growth and the anodes were still like new, so there are not any problems keeping it in at the wrc. A quick lift wash and check over in the slings will do in the spring. then you only pay for one lift which as you will already know is not cheap at the wrc. Barry
  4. It may be diesel bug but I think that turns the diesel a darker colour
  5. Hi On a recent sea trip to Southwold in a bit of a swell, my port engine started to lose power and as we carried on it slowly got worse. Once we were safely in port, we changed the engine filters and cleaned the pre filters as we had no new pre filters on board. The engine filters did have some debris in them, (engine filters are 2 microns and pre filters are 10 microns) however prior to this trip when I had some work done on the boat, I had the port side pre filter replaced as it had a slight leek on the racor water seperator gasket. I don't know if they just took the old filter out and put a new one in without cleaning it out or draining it off, and this may have caused the problem at sea. The return trip the next day went well for about 20 mins, but then we started losing power again and this time after 10 mins the engine cut out. Once in Lowestoft I took the filter lid off and noticed that the fuel was half way down the filter so I tried to bleed the system up again got it running but not very well. I am going to the boat to have a look at it this week and wonder if anyone has any ideas The diesel is a nice bright red in the tank and it 3/4 full. Barry
  6. Yes thats when I lost power, I was doing 24 knots then just as I was cutting accross jonathan's bow I slowed to 20 knots, at this point I noticed a turbo 36 does not turn like a rib . It looks like I will have to drain my diesel tanks and give the a good clean out (big job )
  7. We had a cracking time and loved going out on the bumpy stuff. The company was first class and we cant wait to do it again. I would like to thank everyone for waiting when we lost an engine and that made us feel quite safe knowing you were all around . All the boats handled the conditions superbly. Here are some pics
  8. With 306s in they will do 28 knots no problem but yes with my 235s 24 knots is about the best I will get but im happy with that. Steering was not a sports boat but responsuve enough.
  9. we are planning on coming along so count us in. jonathan's engine will be ready one way or another
  10. Had a great time and wuth the boat trimmed, we achived 24 knots so Iwas very happy with that Now i just need another 200hp to challenge luke
  11. If we come to the reedcutter this weekend we may have to pop up to breydon waters on the the way back to see how osprey goes without 45 degrees of trim tab slowing me down
  12. We are down the boat just not shore of our plans for what we are doing yet
  13. Those electric blankets are the way to go. I am sure we will need ours this weekend coming
  14. I think you will find there were a lot of boats including offshore powerboat racing
  15. Thats one of the reasons I always wanted a turbo 36, proper retro boat. but the boat I like as much is a halmatic ds 110 have a look at one of those they are real retro. I may have to get a recording of the theme tune to replace my hooter
  16. thanks for all the advice, it is nice to know people are there to help
  17. My problem is when I am on the fly bridge I cannot feel the trim angle very well, down bellow I can but I only use the downstairs helm in horrible weather. But like what was said in this thread I should not need them to much so next time out I will play with them. On another note when I was flat out I only reached 2600rpm the max on my engine is 2800rpm (would not having trim tabs all the way down increase the revs by that much. just to say I get no black smoke on the plane
  18. Hi grant I dont have gauges so I called bennets who made my tabs and they said I cannot fit gauges to my year of tabs .
  19. Well thank you very much I think it looks great too. I also think the ts 37 looked quite impresive. All the others kept buggering off like scolded cats
  20. So I think we can safely say not to do that again lol! 24 knots would be nice so here's hoping
  21. Just a note to say that of all the boats out there on sunday, the winner of the biggest wash was easily the sd hull just as I thought in a previouse thread (sd vs planing)
  22. This is very interesting as i used full flap last time out at sea and there was a big swell about 2+ mtr waves and when they were coming from the rear quater, I did suffer a lot of slewing which suprised me a bit as I have read a lot about the turbo's superb sea keeping abilities, they used to deliver them in anything upto 7s/8s. what speed increase do people think i may achive and please look at the pic on the other thread and give me your apinions on the way she is sitting on yhe water. Barry
  23. Hi all At the weekend we took Osprey out on braydon for a blast and to get some photo's of her and freinds on the move (luke and annie I think you have some good pics of her. if you could send those to me please). To my suprise she sat a lot flatter on the water than I was expecting as the pics of turbo's on the plane are always bow up a little. What I have been doing is running full tab all the time and achive stanstill to planing in about 8 secounds and onto a top speed of 22.8 knots one way and 19.6 knots the other on braydon at nearly low tide. The fairline had full tanks of fuel full tank of water, tender etc so was fully loaded up so I would guess about 11 - 12 tonnes. She has a pair of tamd 60b's 235hp each. My question is should i have used full flap all the time or not? and would it have gone faster/slower or the same speed (yes luke I know I need another 400 hp and trust me i would love it lol) Barry There is some pics of her on the plane in another thread posted the other day, see what you think to the trim andle
