  1. Went out early doors Tuesday to catch low water at Great Yarmouth for a run over Breydon.

We are 10' airdraft with the navigation mast and VHF whips lowered. There was about 9" to spare.

My brother was out on the deck just to keep an eye on the clearance. I won't mention the fact he forgot to put his life jacket on:default_eusa_naughty:

Slightly dodgy phone footage from a Facebook live video I took on our run back over Breydon towards Great Yarmouth.

We were doing a speed run to test the newly fitted turbo on the port engine.

Everything spun up nicely so all is good....

  2. The thinking at the moment is maybe just have a blast across Breydon and back again the Sunday after next and then back to the Marina.

I'll put off a weekend over to the South till we have a few more hours of daylight available to us.

    Edit....

Having said all that.....We will be on Neaps then.Any idea what sort of bridge clearance at low water you would expect to see at Yarmouth on Neaps?

  3. Looks like another weekend isn't going to go ahead !

Spoke to the guys at Yarmouth yacht station and worked out that getting back from Surligham to Yarmouth for best bridge clearance would mean leaving at about 05.00hrs.

The weather forecast is pretty grim, I've got a bit of a cold and I don't fancy navigating in the dark and damp whilst blowing my nose every two minutes:default_ohmy:

    I'm hatching a plan B as I type this!

  4. New turbo all installed.

All being well we should be on for our run across Breydon and stop over on the southside on the 2nd/3rd November.

Will wait until next week just to make sure all is good and then hopefully book Surlingham Ferry up for the Saturday evenings mooring and grub :)

  5. Slight delay in the turbo fitting so unfortunately won’t be out on the water this weekend.

Looking at tide times it will be the 2nd/3rd November when the water levels are in our favour for a weekend jolly across to the South side.

Hopefully turbo will be all fitted early next week so will keep you all posted on the progress.

Unfortunately my last visit to the broads has been far far too long ago CC so I won't be around this weekend, but have a great time at The Ferry, I hope the weather us good for you, the repairs are satisfactory and I look forward to seeing you around the rivers soon

    Cheers Jay,

There will be a pint with your name on it when we do get to meet Sir.

Forgot to mention......I Will be in the White Horse at Upton Friday night

  7. Hi All,

Update......A replacement reconditioned turbo is being fitted this Friday.

Also having new clear Vetus raw water strainers to replace the original black Volvo ones.

Going to have this weekend out to check all is okay and will do some running over Breydon to giver her a blast.

Saturday afternoon/evening we shall be moored up for the night at the Surlingham Ferry to take on provisions.....Food and Beer:418_fork_knife_plate::408_beers:

If any of you guys/gals happen to be there on Saturday be sure to say Hello.

Weather doesn't look very promising for the weekend but I will try and get some photos/Videos of the weekend.

Southwold is always a good destination for a weekend shakedown run, about 18NM from the mouth at GY, 1:15h at a gentle cruise speed of 16knots, full tide access and plenty of pubs (as long as you like adnams).

Follow the buoyed channels as coast hugging can catch you out of water.

    I like your thinking:default_biggrin:

  9. Hi Mel,

    Welcome to the forum.

We are also moored at Acle Marina with our boat Lady Emma.

It's our third year moored at Acle and we love it there also.

Be sure to say hello if you see us on board..........The kettle is always ready for a brew.

perhaps its just me but after spending quite a few quid on a new turbo i would want to be giving it a good start to its life via an clean new low ash oil change - may even be tempted to do an engine flush before hand

    just my thoughts

    finny

I might be missing something but the engines have just been serviced last week including new oil filters and oil replaced?

And dont forget a oil change - Volvo dont make oil it comes out of the ground even though they will recommend their own oil . i personally use a low Ash oil and it would be Comma oil

The engines have just been serviced including all filters, impellers, oil etc.

This was when the turbo problem was discovered :default_icon_eek:
