Hi Jeff, have you tried taking off the pipe to the inlet side of the turbo & spinning the center fan with your fingers. The reason I suggest doing this is, that sometimes the shaft sticks to the inner seals when engines are not run for some time.  Oil residues harden on both shaft and seal causing the turbo to stop. A quick spin with the fingers sometimes breaks the residue. Can save a few hundred of your hard earned. good luck.

    What..............Get my hands dirty:default_eusa_naughty:

No No No.......I shall be getting someone in to do the dirty work lol.

I shall mention this to him though so many thanks for the advice.

P.s. Engines run every week and goes out of the marina for a run at least once a fortnight:default_stinky:

Wait till the weather turns first, a seized turbo won't affect you at river speeds.

Winter is long enough without disabling the boat in good weather.

I use the boat all year round. I work in Norfolk two days a week so use the boat for a base on those days.

I love winter cruising and my helm is in the main cabin so no need to freeze :default_biggrin:

So..........not that worried about when to get it done, just the fact that it will be nice to sort for when "I feel the need, the need for speed":default_eusa_dance:

  3. Hi all,

I'm looking for recommendations for anyone who does Hull wrapping and also window tinting?

Want to have a partial wrap on the hull in dark (boat) blue to break up the white. Will also get the Anti foul to match.  Also to get the glass tinted as well which will help keep some of the heat out of the cockpit and hopefully help to protect all the lovely Scandinavian wood work.

Planning to do this next year when the boat comes out to be anti fouled and new anodes installed.

I use an image hosting site to post my pictures. In my case 'Flickr' but others are available.

Upload your image to hosting site then it's just a case of copying the BB code of the image and pasting code into your thread on here.

    Hello Coolcat,

They used to be both in Tadcaster and drew from the same water, but only one brewery could draw water off at a time. I believe one brewery has moved elsewhere.

I've just noticed that one of our sponsors - the Bridge Inn have updated their advertising panel over to the right.

It has just reminded me that we popped in recently and were very impressed as always. Phil and Ness are now celebrating 12 years at the helm and what a transformation they have made in that time. If anyone needs a model of how to run a pub, this is it. As Phil says, they are a pub that does food. Very good food too. They have never pretended to be gastro but serve really good pub grub which is what customers on the Broads want. The pub does phenomenally well in summer but if you go in during the winter (which we often do) it does a roaring trade then too.  The staff buzz around like a well oiled machine and are very friendly and helpful.

A new menu has been launched for the season with many new tempting offerings ranging from light bites through to grills and some more spicy offerings. something for everyone yet not overloaded to with too many dishes. Good wine list too.

The beer is always superbly kept (Cask Marque accreditation too) and I was delighted that Phil is continuing to offer a guest beer in the season often from the superb Humpty Dumpty brewery.

Give it a try, I promise you will not be disappointed! :default_beerchug:

    Totally agree,

The Bridge Inn has now very much become my local (and I'm not local:default_biggrin:) for the very reasons you have pointed out.

Always looked after superbly by all the staff, nothing too much trouble for them even when the place is really busy.

Will be there Monday evening with friends who have come down from Middlesbrough to stay in Norfolk for the week.

Be sure to say hello if you are there:default_beerchug:

  8. I passed my test first time at 17 in 1987.

The driving school I took my lessons with had a fleet (of two) Mk1 Nissan Micras:default_biggrin:

I bought my first car a month after passing my test. A 1973 Mk1 Escort 1300. It was in a bronze brown colour which hid the rust pretty well. It lasted me just about a year before the Tin worm took hold.

My next car was a Vauxhall Chevanne (don't ask) soon followed by a Mk1 VW Scirocco which I blew up after a few months of, how shall I put it........Vigorous driving!

I then inheriited a Datsun Sunny in 1989 which I had for three years before getting my first of two Renualt 21's which saw me through to 1999.  Ros and I then bought an ex demonstrator Vauxhall Astravan which served me well for work and also an ex demonstrator Rover 45 Saloon for when we needed more than two seats.

In 2007 we bought a three year old Mk1 MG ZT which we ran alongside the Astravan.

2010 saw us retire the Astravan to pastures new and we purchased a MK2 MG ZT-T and also an Audi A3 S-Line which we kept both of for the next seven years.

In 2017 I left the company I had worked at for the last twenty years and went self employed. My miles I travel for work has shot up and it was decided to retire the petrol MG and Audi and go back to the fuel of the devil!

So......We are now down to one car and driving an Audi Q3 S-Line TDI and doing about 25,000 miles a year so far:default_icon_eek:

Hoping to run her for a few years more yet and then will look at an EV for our next motor.

Been great reading up on here all of the varied motors peeps have had over the years.

  9. Sorry we didn't get to say hello to everyone. Had been a long day for Ros and I.

Work in the morning till 13.00hrs on Saturday then a two hour drive from Clacton to Acle and three hours at the helm to Salhouse...........Was kind of shattered.

A couple of beers and dinner and we hit the sack:default_biggrin:

Thanks to the team for putting on a great event again. Next time hope we may have a little bit more time to spend with everyone.

Video of us arriving at the meet about 18.00hrs last night.
