  1. I've just realised i have worded this all wrong i meant Hire boat yards not (private boat yards} look forward to your new response.
  2. Hi all does anyone know if it is possible to moor overnight in private boat yards, providing they have the space and i expect for a fee and if so do you just navigate in and try and find someone or contact them before arrival? And if you have done this before your thoughts will be appreciated. Kind Regards Dave Beard
  3. You could try speaking to Dave at Broads Edge Marina Stalham it has lovely leafy green areas tree lined and is perhaps one of the loveliest marina's on the Broads there are mostly stern on moorings with a few side on ones and it is not to expensive. https://www.broadsedgemarina.co.uk/ Kind Regards Dave Beard
  4. Wow I didn't expect this amount of replies, so maybe I've touched on an interesting subject, firstly thank you for all the suggestion's, my Alpha already has a Bow thruster and a reversing camera, so I've decided we will keep the boat and take on the ideas about centre cleats Port and Starboard with the Stern ropes pre-tied to them and led forward My wife Helms the boat regularly but says she can't do the docking I will work on that one, and also now I am very interested in finding out what a Stern thruster would cost to have fitted? P.S. I found a winch remote kit that should also be good for operating the Bow thruster for very little money on Flea Bay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234644673510 Kind Regards Dave Beard
  5. My wife has recently had more illness problems and now she cant help with mooring any more so I've been thinking about changing the boat to something more suitable for me to moor and dock on my own, the current boat is a Alpha 32 one level and although I can do it all on my own there may be something else even easier for a 67 year old your opinions will be greatly accepted.
  6. I have used this Varnish Le Tonkinois and it does what it says on the tin, it has a lovely shiny gloss finish, just use wire wool to flatten in between coats. http://letonkinoisvarnish.co.uk/ordering2.html

I've been boating on the Norfolk Broads for thirty two years and I have had all types if boats from rowing, outboard dingy, speedboats Shetland, Cleopatra and two types of ex hire boats but for a single handed boat I would stick with a Freeman 22, 23, or 26 you can pick them up for low money even lower if your prepared to get your hands dirty lol Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
