As an update to the chains at Hardly Cross, the rangers were there this morning repair/replacing them. They said someone had falling in, but I didn’t realise it was you.
And yes the mooring is still very slippery and as a solo helm I WAS wearing a life jacket…😎

I don’t know either, it’s not clear is it? All I can say is the sunrise and sunset times appear to be BST…😎

I've just noticed, and I may be the only one, but are you two twins? I'm looking at your pics above.
Separated at birth, or should that be berth?

How about the PO moving into the pub? Maybe the two struggling types of businesses could share the overheads and make a go of it…😎

So, in danger of thread drift, what’s the answer to the age old question, is it more economical to leave the heating on low 24/7 or on high(er) twice a day?

Wouldn’t it be great if there are more ‘public moorings ‘ in Horning…😎

Oooh! That hurt. As an incoming suburban retiree, I resent that generalisation. I keep my boat on The Broads, spend quite a lot of my money on maintenance at a Broadland marina, spend money at Broadland businesses when onboard, whether in shops or pubs. Since moving here, we’ve spent multiple thousands of pounds with local businesses refurbishing our home.
Ive been coming to The Broads for over 50 years and it was a long held ambition to move to the county when I retired. I remain extremely grateful that I will spend the remainder of my life in a county in which I feel so very comfortable and am proud to call my home.
And as a local I’d say you’re very welcome…😎

So sorry Alan for you and the family. Whilst I didn’t know your Dad I followed and enjoyed his tales. R.I.P.

A cynic might think that they could franchise the visitors centres to (now let me think) and they could then make a charge for any visitors moorings in the vicinity either side of the river to cover staffing costs .
Kindest Regards Marge and Parge
That would never work surely…🤔

It’s normally only in my pocket if I’ve been on a mooring a while and going out or coming back from a walk.
But serves as a reminder to have it in a waterproof pouch maybe? What a hassle that’d be.
I’ve used a waterproof holder since I lost 2 phones from a shirt pocket, not at the same time, whilst mooring. I might even start wearing a life jacket following your tale…😎

You've gotta be kidding me really? I thought it was sorta getting back to normal?
I'm due to be afloat from this evening, need to get under Ludham bridge tomorrow ideally without taking the top down at 7ft7" Mooring up without having to wear wellies would be good too. Was hoping to get under Wroxham bridge too (Astern!)

Good luck, you’ll make the best of it as usual. Hope all is well…😎

Maybe I shouldn’t ask here, but does anyone know what has happened to this forum, it appears not to have been available for some time.

Mrs Bluebell made me redundant from decorating last year. We now have a young professional working his way through the house having painted the outside last summer.
i haven’t missed it at all…😎

Regarding the fenders not working in the high water levels, I keep a couple of spares on long lines with weights on the bottom to stop them floating too high…😎

Well, that’s something to look forward to 🤬
It’s harsh on top of all the previous years increases, but I don’t expect much sympathy. After all we must all be minted…😎

Thank you,
I am on the boat this week but took the precaution of bringing some shop bits and envelopes with me just in case.
I will post it out to you in the morning.
Thanks, but there is no hurry. Please post it at your convenience. Cheers…😎

I had a Webasto on Chiltern Lady, it needed repairing, but sadly parts were no longer available (it was 1995 vintage). I was surprised at the cost of a replacement unit, so went for the Autoterm (Planar UK) heater. It fitted the existing exhaust and air ducts and diesel connections (thanks to Paul, Muddy Waters for his help in fitting). I’ve been pleased with the performance of this 4Kw heater and would recommend it.
Hope that helps Maurice Mynah…😎
