Be careful on the way home as the White Heron are now organising night-time paddle boarding, to Surlingham Broad and back.

There is an article about it on the EDP website.

Yes, I noticed this and have asked the question ‘will navigation lights be used?’

Land shoes and deck shoes and the changing between the two used to be commonplace when I was young. Along the South Coast at any rate, maybe we just got lazy, or modern waistlines make a simple task like changing shoes a chore.

Still common on Chiltern Lady too, slip-ons essential though…😎

We intend to overnight at Salhouse on the Friday , dress Pipedreams there and meet up at Salhouse for the CinC on Saturday , if Socrates lets us know what time he would like us to assemble

I’ll do the same, the bunting might not be up to much, but I’ll give it a go…😎🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

    Nice one 👍

Hoping to do the same myself soon

    Was I full after 5pm?

I got the only space at about 3.30, but there was quite a few leaving and arriving until 5’ish. There was one space about 6’ish which was taken, so full now…😎

  5. So, arrived this afternoon at Ranworth Staithe. As usual it’s busy with just one space on the side (cab rank). The helpful mooring attendant asked how long I was staying, and I replied overnight, but would not be paying. She said okay,  and asked me to confirm I was the registered owner of Chiltern Lady. And that was that.

Berthed I at Ranworth. It’s chokka, had to queue up to get all three boats in

I visited the information centre, politely gave the lady there my name, contact number, boat reg and name. Then informed her that I would not be paying the mooring fee as I had already paid it in my annual river toll then left the office

I await any further developments or a visit

    Griff

Whilst you were at Ranworth, we stopped for lunch at ‘Griffs Corner’, no room at St Benet’s, Ludham Bridge or How Hill!

When I get round to my next visit to Ranworth, I will be following your lead and politely refusing to pay the illegal charge and I hope others will too.

Who has made their feeling known?

    Which FB group?

    What BA actions?

I just wish for transparency why smoke and mirrors. I find it most confusing. Tell it as it is?

There’s a lot going on on Facebook try ‘Reform the Broads Authority’. No need to be a member, it’s open to all without a login…😎

I am amazed that this thread has not yet attracted a comment from our friendly BA staff member.

I wonder if he has been instructed not to get involved !!!

I would be very interested to hear what would happen if 5 or 6 boats rafted up about 10 feet away from the staithe and stayed there for a few hours or even overnight. It would be easy enough to have 2 or 3 rafts of 2 or 3 boats.

I cannot remember ever seeing any signs stating that you cannot mudweight within a certain distance of land !!!!!

    Jeff

But that would block the moorings, now that’s an idea. Wouldn’t it be great if that could be organised (informally, of course)…😎

    Hi all,

I am looking for advice on hire boat moorings on the southern rivers that are close to railway stations. We are hiring soon and hoping to get “down south” but my son will be doing his Duke of Edinburgh expedition so needs to join us by train part way through the week.

Brundall would be our first choice, but where can I moor overnight?

Cantley and Reedham would be the obvious alternatives, but have I missed anywhere?

    thanks

    David

The White Heron (the Yare PH that was) are offering moorings to customers. If that works they’re pretty close to the station…😎

Michael Portillo's railway journey featuring Norwich is repeated (again!) tonight at 7pm. I seem to remember he suggests corruption around the Town Hall...

CITY Hall if you don’t mind…😎

I used to buy Bally shoes, in the day. 1960/1970, Five or six pairs. Manufactured in their factory on Hall Road, Norwich. retail price three or four hundred pounds. They were rejects. why I do not know. A friend, an employee, purchased them for me, at a discount price. For me £5 or £6. I could only afford a few.

A waste of money, sure very stylish, none of my mates knew fish from fowl.

Not for a Norfolk boy I'm afraid. A different world.

I do not think that I impressed anybody, at least I thought I did, in my naivety I was happy with that.

I’ve still got a pair Bally’s Chelsea boots, must be over 20years old now…😎
