  1. I saw you in the reeds at Thurne Mouth and assumed you were wild mooring! Glad you were recovered okay by Boulters.

This week I had a trip south and went all the way up to New Mills in Norwich. BIG mistake. So much weed there, that on my way back down river I overheated by the Frostbites Sailing Club, luckily there is road access and Boulters were there in no time at all and unblocked the oil cooler filter and sent me on my way.

A big thank you to Dave and the team at Boulters, their breakdown cover is well worth it…

I’m berthed up next to Peter Sabberton. Now retired. He used to race on Oulton Broad. His son now runs Sabena  Marine and is on with building a boat to break the world water speed record

Wow! I remember him racing at Oulton Broad. My Dad told me his boat had an E-Type engine in it. Peter’s dad Pop Sabberton used to give me lift to Royalls boat yard when I was a kid and worked there in my summer holidays.

  3. Sorry to hear of another business being pushed into closing or relocating. I will visit Rosie Lees when next in London.
It resonated with me what John (Annv) posted. When we rented our office, the landlord, who was really a very good landlord, suggested a rent increase. My argument went along the lines of if you have a mortgage on the property, rates are at an all time low, and if you own the building outright then you’ve had no increase in costs. We eventually agreed an increase of about half the suggested one to cover other “administrative “ costs.

  4. Thanks for all the replies. Pleased to say that on a day trip to Cromer today I bought one (£8) from the RNLI shop at the end of the pier…😎

Now I’ve got an excuse to go to the boat and fit it!

So we ended up with carpet on Thunder about 3 years ago and I reckon if we voted again we would probably go hard flooring!

if you get chance have a look at the flooring on the hireboats that HPC have refurbed. They look really good.

As we going to be looking at replacing the flooring on Chiltern Lady soon, can you elaborate on what HPC have done on the hire boats please…

    TIA

A bit of a wherry fest going on on Barton Broad this morning. I think there are 4 of them moored up, but a bit far away to see properly. How many masts does a wherry have?

The washing and housework will have to wait till tomorrow. The day is too good to waste so I’ve got myself a nice wild mooring on the Ant. I might even clean the windows this afternoon!

Thought so! I came past earlier and thought you’d been quick doing the washing…😎

Ouch!!  Open wallet surgery for another case of B.O.A.T!  It would probably be worth getting your heater and controls checked.  New ones cost a fortune, unless you go down the Chinese route.  I know a couple of folk who’ve had them, one without issues and the other who did.  Planar (Autoterm) is another manufacturer of mid priced heaters, but as they’re made in Russia, spares availability may become problematic in view of the situation in Ukraine.  There’s also MV (Mikuni) to consider, also cheaper than Webasto or Eberspacher.

Hopefully, yours is repairable, but if it’s not, you may need an anaesthetic prior to opening your handbag!!

We fitted one last year and have been very pleased with it. Regarding future supplies of spares etc, it seems production has now been moved to outside of Russia. The UK agent has around 12-24 months worth of spares already in the UK and details can be found on their website.
