Simply Brilliant A great, somewhat wet, of course, Easter afloat. After fitting Zephyr with a windscreen wiper motor and blade (the end result was less than perfection: pretty rubbish water clearing results really) we moored this evening at Thurne and visited the newly re-opened Lion. I have to say the results are fantastic, absolutely brilliant: great decor, furnishings, phenomenal service and excellent food. Genuinely cannot recommend highly enough: our regular favourite is the White Horse at Neatishead: to find out tonight, it’s the same team: massive congratulations. Showers and amusements being brought back to life over the next few months: Great work.

A warm welcome, born in Norfolk, moved to London, now have a boat on the Broads and it’s heaven: out this weekend: blustery but lovely and warm: peace and quiet (shame on Hotel Wroxham though: poor Max, Labrador, not allowed inside at £20 a mooring in winter, they might want to rethink that, so had a pint in the accommodating, dog friendly, Kings ahead instead) but whatever, a lovely weekend. You’re only in your 50’s. Dad has lived here all his life and only just caught the ‘I just buy a boat bug” at 72 :)

Our first Christmas on the Broads was a success :) It was in all honesty magical. (Minus a fan belt episode, but we forgive that) there was snow, hail, winds and rain but not on Christmas Day. It was made even more the merrier by the arrival of Maggie (as an elf) and Steve (Santa himself) on Christmas morning. We got to meet a few out and about and had several a merry moment at the White Horse at Neatishead. Getting back into he Wetshed was also easier the second time around, we're learning.

We managed to get Zephyr safe and sound into the Wetshed this weekend - just in time to be able to get her ready for the Christmas period: traditionalists amongst us may not like the festive adornments (a few warm white lights etc). We've cleaned and polished and tidied: had a sound night aboard (subject to the credit running out in the early hours after, what I think must have been caused, by us misreading the credit left in the meter: will be getting it topped up and thermostatic controlled oil radiators on tomorrow). Underestimated quite how cold: cold feels. Need some flags up for the weekend afloat; it's been pointed out that the cross looks slightly menacing or missplaced for this time of year. Max (the lab) is finding his paws in the new water home: he seemed perfectly at home infront of the fire: anywhere warm and he's at home.

LOVE this: like a child being watched out of school :) We are HOPING that she's able to get back to the Wetshed this weekend so we can get aboard and prepare for Christmas :) Can't wait to meet everyone - works (as always) were a bit prolonged but will be very relieved to hear she is not sinking soon.

Evening All I'm sure that this has been answered somewhere previously, apologies if so :( Hoping to get Zephyr back in the water next weekend - as predicted there was a fair amount of planking needing to be replaced - and unexpected rot in the Chine... I was warned that woodies are a work in progress... (Picture coming soon) Am intending to be out over Christmas 23 - 27th, we've checked with the Broads Authority and they have basically said "it's fine to moor in one spot for longer than 24hrs, people will not be out and checking as there is very little use of the moorings over the winter - so no-one complains that there is no room." has anyone been out for a few days in one spot over the Christmas period (obviously pending weather). I think we are planning on it being tropical.... in all seriousness she's moored at the wet shed in Stalham and I guess if it's freezing will remain there :( anyone else take their woodies out over winter - especially Christmas?

This year we're thinking of spending Christmas afloat, save for the fact we may actually have a white Christmas and the water freezes :( Has anyone got any tips, stories, advice, don't do's? We're intending on going up to Neatishead, Dad following on in Laureen, cheeky pint at lunch at The White Horse then food and frolics aboard after. Is anyone else thinking of being aboard? In the area? Are we certifiable?

Afternoon all - newbie members here. We've just purchased Zephyr, Broom Captain at Stalham Wet shed. (We being myself Gavin, Cesar and our yellow lab Max) We were previously moored over at Boulters in our seamaster - now in the very fine hands of my dad. Born and raised in Norfolk but having lived in London a few decades having a boat on The Broads is like a homecoming - return to the roots. She's currently with the lads at Simpsons getting ready for us to launch her sometime next week - we CANNOT wait! As newbie woodie owners - we look "forward" to the trials and tribulations: thank you to all those that have already given great advice - told us we are mad etc :)
