  1. I imagine, especially for inexperienced boaters, that running aground in what is a large expanse of water leaves you wondering what to do. A call for help and advice is presumably taken out of your hands at that point and the response is no longer under your control.

Does the boat document folder include instructions on what to do if aground does anyone know?

  2. I wonder whether or not the helm in these cases are gently debriefed in order to investigate what went wrong.

Twice recently on other parts of the Broads I have had dayboats veer across the river towards a head-on collision as the helm talks to their crew over their shoulder. It takes a surprising number of blasts on the horn before they realise it applies to them.

Could distraction be a factor in these running aground incidents? Maybe some sort of "off lane" device similar to those on cars could be fitted to hire boats? Triggered by location so as not to ruin the experience by buzzing on other parts of the system

  3. We've noticed quite a few pubs closed on mondays. With many pubs short of staff it seems this is the only way they can get a break.

Norada, Potter. Dog Inn, Ludham. Lion, Somerton and as noted the Nelson, Reedham.

Things may change as staff are found so it's worth checking direct with them... don't want to lose them Monday business if they do return to opening!

Have you tried Y10 gel? It might not work on a burn if it’s too deep into the gel but worth a try, it’s great stuff for removing rust marks and waterline staining , I use it a lot on my boat

That looks good, I haven't come across that before. I'll give it a try.... Thank you 👍

Yeah, right!!  I thought that, but more and more little jobs seem to occur to me.  My problem is that, having tried and failed to do things in the past, I find it cheaper not to try and get someone with the right skill set to do it in the first place! 😉

I know exactly what you mean lol But I have had some successes..  sadly these only encourage me 😁

  6. On removing a solar panel I found that sometime in the past our boat suffered an electrical fault. The junction box on the panel had melted completely and was burnt causing some burn damage to the grp. This is inside and right on top and in the middle of the area between the helm and windscreen. I can cover it but if possible I would like to make it look better cosmetically.

I have tried a mild cut/polish product with only a small improvement as you can see from the before and after photos.

Has anyone dealt with something like this successfully?

Can we just say The Harnser and under new management The Falgate are great places to be.

    Kindest regards Marge and Parge

Have recently tried the Falgate and agree 100% Good food and warm welcome, including the dog.

We keep meaning to try the Harnser, have heard many recommendations locally so it won't be long before we get there 🙂

Tony had to go and lie down in a darkened room for a little while  to recover from the bill!

I can sympathise having just had my first £100 petrol fill up in my car!

Even I have to say, my Missus is a bit of a whizz with a camera (or iphone).

She has captured a lot of wonderful Broads memories for us.

She has an eye for a great shot, it's always good to enjoy an update to Luna's Log 👍

    Hi All

We have Kettle Micro Wave and all the bits but only when on shore power. Old Parge would struggle to justify the cost of a big invertor as leisure AGM won't take the drain.  We have a 12volt telly which is good.

I have a stand alone invertor to install just to run an electric blanket when it is a bit chilly around the edges. Looking at 150 watts for a timed hour. It is pure sign wave so could be useful for anything we don't have a charger for only one socket attached to the the invertor. I will use stronger leads than the ones it came with although they are the same as light jump leads and run it from our domestic 3 X 115 amp hr AGM battery bank through a separate isolator .

How many times would you have used your microwave when there was no sure power ? We have a gas top toaster if I need me BEANS :default_biggrin: which our Marge purchased from ebay and it works very well. (especially when she uses it)

Your electrics that are installed look like a very professional expensive job me and if they were mine I would leave well alone if all works well .

Kindest Regards and enjoy your ping dish when plugged in :default_biggrin:.

    Marge and Parge

Sounds like you have a good setup all sorted out. I think we all tend to find what works best for us over time 👍
