Collected the new carbon fibre thermostat housing with platinum thermostat earlier this week.

(Turned out that £98 price tag included the vat) I was gonna fit it today, however we didn't finish clay shooting till 1230, then I had to visit a client for estimate measuring etc, then had to go off to Ferrybridge services to hand over a perspex wind deflector that was surplus to requirements I had sold.  By the time that lot was done and I arrived home it was too late in the day to commence the cooling system flushing so it'll have to wait to tomorrow afternoon now, weather permitting

Rather than go in my 'GriffTile' van I drove to Ferrybridge in Zebedee, this a round trip of about 80-ish miles from my gaff, the furthest run to date. Enjoyed the run tremendously, although the radio picks up limited stations. Must remember to drag out our vintage cassette collection and pick a few and get the CD changer thingy loaded up.

At 70mph the engine is doing 3'200rpm, way toooooo high. I am of the opinion that Zebedee needs a sixth gear or cog five replacing with a taller one to drop down the revs for motorway cruising. I'll look into this one and report back in due course

Whilst I was out delivering, in my absence my Lad deep cleaned / detailed / ceramic polished the whole of Zebedee (I knew he'd come in handy for sommat or t'other one day), he's done a fine job too and steed is now looking her best.

I did get the Gods Country Rose 3D gel self adhesive number plate badges put on. The front one looks worse than crap due to the fixing screw location. Now of course I need a new set of plates - self adhesive ones. It seems like everytime I get an upgrade / farkle sorted, there is another un to add to the list  I'll soon have gone over the £1k mark spent on that blooming list.

The Gods Country number plate badges. For those of you that reside in Yorkshire, hail from Yorkshire (Or wish you did ) then I have a few pairs available. I searched around online for an age trying to find some, failed so had to do a minimum order and get some made up. 'MrsG stated I must not put any on her Q5 (She being a Jock-ess) I put a pair on months ago now, she still hasn't noticed them or is giving them a damn fine ignoring too

3200 rpm at 70 is waaay too high.

My XK is turning around 1600 at 70 and the XF 1300.

XK has 6 gears and 8 pots and 4.2 ltr , I will add that the " go faster" button has not been pressed .

XF has 8 gears 6 pots and 3.0 ltrs and none of the 3 ," go faster," buttons have been pressed .

Both cars can do 0-60 in 6 seconds and are 300 and 270 bhp respectively.

When I picked up the XK I drove it over 300 miles home. It was only in the last 94 miles that I discovered how to re set the trip computer. When I got home I had averaged 27.8 mpg and an average speed of 67 mph ( I had not discovered the "go faster " button) driven from North of England to North Norfolk so pick out of that what you will.

I thought that was pretty impressive for a similar era vehicle to Zebedee 👍

Don't generally press any of the "go faster" buttons on the XF but I do now on the XK as a V8 turning over 7k rpm sound's heavenly.

XF will regularly return 55+ mpg but it is an oil burner 😳

No it’s definitely British.  Opened rear passenger door light comes on, close door light stays on. Open door light on close door light still on, turn off car and restart light goes off.  Number 2. Start car dash all lit. Put car into drive dash goes blank, turn off car and restart dash comes back on into drive and dash stays on what the flip !!!!

    Know exactly what you mean.

    With the soft top.

Close the storage box between the front seats and the cup holder lid pops open 😳

At least it proves it was built in Castle Bromwich 🤣

Why is the grant cycle out of sync with annual financial budgeting. Or is it a matter of poor communication between PSB’s? If so why?

    Cos it's Public Sector.

They have all the time in the world.

Not like the rest of us who have to work to a deadline.

Sorry I know I am going off topic but when I ran a residents group opposing the County Council I was issued with many deadlines. The CC said they would reply within a certain timeframe. And then they simply didn't.

    Then extended that timeframe.

    And gave us another deadline.

    Then they missed it again

    And on and on etc

That is the problem in particular with Quangos and Public Bodies.

They don't generate their own income as such, they are given money out of taxation, grants or fees that we can't control.

So that gives them a 'budget' to spend, and if they don't spend it they lose it.

"Other Peoples Money", and un-accountable, so there is no incentive whatsoever to be prudent and reduce costs.

    Absolutely right Bikertov.

Is there any wonder why there are soooo many public sector strikes 😳

  5. Seems like my figures were wrong 😩

A re read seems to give an increase of £440,000 to The BA from the NP grant.

Not as much as I first thought but still not a number to be sniffed at.

I wonder if my prediction will come true and the 13% increase will slip through as usual and BA will quietly drop the proposed mooring charges at Ranworth and Reedham and we will all celebrate having our concerns listened to 😣

Until next year's inflation busting increase. 😫

  6. Thanks Guys for bumping this thread.

Just like the rest of you mine has gone up 13 % 😫

As I have said before good old Norfolk Business Plan. Numbers decreasing ( income declining) so squeeze the remaining ones until the pips squeak. 😣

Having serious discussions about leaving our dinghy in the shed this year . Over £85 for a 4 sq m inflatable 😩 . Mind you I should still be in the black if I visit Ranworth 9 times and mudweight instead of mooring alongside.

Has anyone who is in contact with the " Reform The Broads " Facebook group anything they can share. I am aware there are things going on behind the scenes, and IMHO that is the correct way to proceed , but as not a FB user there may be something I have missed.

No pressure for information but if there is anything that can be shared I would appreciate it. 👍

  7. Really impressed with the wind deflector in my soft top. 👍

Can go to around 80 ish (not specifying what units 🫣) without undue wind in the hair and I stand , or rather sit, at 5'10" .

No good for the Hooligan in the back as we have to remove it though and stick to 70 and just have to see his ears flapping in the wind 😁

No good for Zebedee I suppose as no back seats for children with no legs, unlike mine 😫

    Oops!

We seem to have gone off piste!

    This must be a classic!

Let's hear it for the bridge, no.......all bridges.

Norfolk and Suffolk has an ambarresment of bridges. From Beccles, to Norwich. From Norwich to Great Yarmouth. From Great Yarmouth to Wroxham, to Stalham, to Potter, to Coltishall.

It is what it is. Rivers and bridges.

If an issue. Buy a caravan. Hire a riverside cottage.

    Old Wussername.

    But it isn't.

The point some of us are trying to make is that with 6' 8 " showing on Potter Bridge I and many others were good to go.

Now we don't see even 6'6" that I would still go at 😫

  9. I did float the idea of having a small bar there in the past seeing as how there was frequently quite a lot of hire boats overnighting at Richardson's due to the lack of available moorings in this part of the system.

What prompted me was it was a beautiful sunny day and many were just chilling on their boats.

Just a few chairs and tables plus a fridge and some sun shades would do it. And if there is a cafe in place already there is somewhere to go if the weather turns inclement.

Management were not adverse to this idea.

But then mine was designed to pass under Potter Bridge 😫

    Ditto

And so were countless other hire / private boats that also cannot now do so

I don't blame that chuffin bridge one iota, I quite like it, it looks kinda 'Just Right' exactly where it is

    However:-

If only the Blessed Authority would recommence dredging the Lower bure like their predecessors did, then PHB would not be a problem

    Griff

I am not wedded to the idea that dredging the lower Bure is the answer as I don't really know enough about it to have a strong opinion. However there does seem to be a strong contingent that believes that this is a solution.

So why not give it a go?

The worst thing that could happen is that the lower Bure gets deeper.😥

Or am I missing something here?
