Do we know if this charge is illegal? Has anyone asked a Lawyer?
The problem with lawyers is that they will say what you want them to say provided that you pay them enough.
I say this from experience of employment law not I must add from civil law 🫣

There should be no legal fees their only recourse would be a civil claim through the small claims court incurring a £35 fee.
Fred
Thanks guys 👍
Quite prepared to pay £35 .
Also have no intention to move off a BA 24 HR mooring if I so desire.

I disagree, by completely ignoring the request for payment the onus is on the BA or the staff to make the first approach, if they do then that's demanding payment which is fraud by false misrepresentation or even demanding money with menaces both police offences.
Fred
Not sure on the way to go on this one.
More input please.
It is my intention not to pay at Ranworth so would appreciate more debate on this one.
I did think initially that Griff's approach was the correct one but Jaws Mikey and Fred have made some great points.
Also with Mr Scania on the crowd funding aspect

The frequency of water fill ups very much depends on your water usage. If you have a crew all showering every day and you're using water for cooking and washing up as well then a daily top up is a good idea. If you use less, you can refill less although I think only one refill in the week might have been pushing your luck slightly. You did very well spending so little though.
Also the size of your tank, if you use fresh water or river water for toilet flush , electric or manual toilet/s and the efficiency of your water pump.
We used to go just about a week on a full tank with 2 of us on board showering every day plus FW toilet flush. We really noticed the increase in water consumption when we had to replace the FW pump. Then again when we changed over to electric toilets 😳

They told me yesterday (as I handed the boat back) that they had 55 leaving Kingfisher Quay yesterday and a further 47 from Swan Quay. I hope it all went swiftly for them as handing over 100 boats is one heck of a undertaking!
They are pretty used to it.
It's like a well oiled machine and pretty impressive to witness 👍

Berthed I at Ranworth. It’s chokka, had to queue up to get all three boats in
I visited the information centre, politely gave the lady there my name, contact number, boat reg and name. Then informed her that I would not be paying the mooring fee as I had already paid it in my annual river toll then left the office
I await any further developments or a visit
Griff
Well done M8 😁👍😁
I , and I'm sure quite a few others, will be waiting with baited breath to see the outcome of this one.
Not surprised it's busy.
Had to pop into Richardson's this morning and was shocked to see almost all the fleet out. I didn't count them but I would be surprised if more than 30 boats were lying in 😳

Thanks for that Grendel 👍

Totally off topic but a little tale from my seagoing time.
Two of our sister ships were tied up alongside each other in Aberdeen.
The second mate off ship #1 returned on board after a night ashore to find a man sleeping in his bed in his cabin. A bit upset and turfed out the man from his bunk.😲
The man in berth #1 was most upset and was the second mate off ship#2 who then promptly skipped across to ship #2 and got into the bed in ship #2 's second mates cabin.
In the morning man #2 got up and went to make a coffee only to find the coffee maker was not where he expected it to be 😳
There are always subtle differences even in the closest of sister ships.
Yea you have already guessed it 2/0 #2 was turfed out of his bed by 2/0 #1
I was Chief Mate or C/O on ship #1 but we had to swap places with ship #2 during the evening when everyone else was ashore and only me and the duty watch were on board #1 and likewise for #2. 😁
Ship happens 😲

Fair comments.
Just think he will be a top manager one day 😥

Why ???
Manchester City played for 2 seasons without a No 9 since Sergio Auguro left
They didn't too badly 😁
This year they have probably the best striker in the world and are in danger of not retaining the title 😳
Having said that I wish Frank Lampard all the best I always thought he was a top player and is also a top manager

I find Indian Restaurants difficult to recommend as sometimes a change of Chef can make a huge difference.
The only one I had found totally reliable is Labone at Oulton Broad.
Used to be a big fan of Dilraj at Loddon until a change of Chef.
Likewise Oasis at Stalham was pretty reliable until a recent Chef change 😣

Thanks for that information Q👍
I did see the one at Neatishead / Horning being built and did wonder why the requirement for two so close together.

Within walking distance of the Commissioner's Cut BA moorings there's the Merchant of Spice, just about the best rated Indian restaurant in Norwich. They also do takeaways.
Unfortunately it looks like we have very different tastes 😳
Was in the Merchant last month and it has done nothing to improve my view of restaurants in Norwich.

Yes I have. We used to have a large Japanese community in Milton Keynes (before the financial crash). Like most cultures Japanese cuisine is varied and caters to different 'markets'. You will have a very different experience in a high-end restaurant to one that's catering for a more budget conscious clientele. If you want a reasonably priced lunch or a takeaway, I think the Norwich place is good.
Must have caught them on an off day then.
-
Have you ever been to a Japanese restaurant anywhere else?
-
Not tried the Pizza at the old pub Red Lion???) which was one of my favourites but the chippy almost next door is one of my favourites 👍

prepared to try Japanese food, there’s a brilliant and very reasonably priced restaurant in Tombland, close to the Cathedral. It’s called Shiki.
Been there tried that.
Blooming awful 😞
