  1. small update....... as far as i know she was a hire craft with Hoseasons as by the looks of this sticker it has the old bluebird logo on it, there were a few various signs on the boat like gas etc with the bluebird logo on it also, so not just this 1

i'm waiitng to hear back from Hoseasons as to what they know,

i did speak to someone before but i thought it was an old blakes boat, so they weren't that helpful as they didn't have old records for Blakes.apart from 4 numbers for falcons but they were all H reg and mine is a 77 so a K or an L

that is correct as the rubbing strake changed and mine has 2 complete full bands were as the older ones had the bottom band broken up

fingers crossed i can come up with something

  2. nope i have contacted BA and they are hunting thru records for me ( handy knowing ppl within the ranks)

i have also managed to contact a cpl of previous owners and he bought it off a chap who was the nephew of the chap that bought it from the broads to the thames i think, but he can't remember their names annoyingly so drawn a blank there.

The original BA number is what i am desperate to find as i'd luv to have the original number

  3. not a very good pic, and the blue top is actually a baby blue as it's been painted (badly)

the bottom rubbing strake goes all the way round as well which is only like it on a specific model

most had it stopping near the front and another bit just round the front

  4. I have a falcon 26 made by Eastick's of Acle

As far as i know she started her life off on the broads and then got sold off to someone ( i think mr D Waite) of Staines and moved to the Thames

I have the thames registration number 74449

i would love to get the original broads number back on her.

all the falcon 26's i have found info on were built in 75/76

all the paperwork i have say mine is a 77

at some point the engine has been moved also, all the falcon's have the engine out the back in the rear deck well, (strange layout)

they had a V drive gearbox.

Mine is now in the rear bed cabin and a straight thru gearbox.

It has the hole in the rear well so i'd say it used to be there and was moved at some point but i may be wrong as all the panels look the same as the rest of the boat,

if the engine was out the back these panels wouldn't of been needed.

she has had alot of work done to her over the years i have a receipt for £1300 which was done in 1995

that was huge amount in 95.

I looked under the galley drawer today and found some writing and am sure it said 'Harmony 2'

which is strange as that isn't a varient of the falcon 26

i will double check tomorrow and have a closer look as it's quite faded

i'm actually restoring her so will keep looking for bits in cupboards and inside the walls etc for any info.

there was various signs on the boat ie battery master switch with a logo of a swallow i think it is.

which is obviously a boat hire logo, i will take a pic of it tomorrow and post it and hopefully someone will recognise the logo.

but if anyone knows anything about the falcon 26 i'd love to hear from you

    thanks

  5. Never seen the broads this low before..........

we went to look at a new mooring we're getting in OB today

the chap is leaving as he said his sailing boat keeps grounding, so the OH and me thought lets pop down and have a look.....

when we got there the bottom of the broads at the maltings was actually uncovered and i thought ooo it does get low.

we spoke to a cpl of ppl and they all said never seen it this low before and we've been here 20 years.

so we thought we'd pop up to Geldeston and see if our little boat in Rowan was ok and this is what we were confronted with...

even boats at Beccles were leaning badly

  6. I'm thinking on my new resto project the helm seat is quite large and made from wood, the old owner housed the gas bottles under the seat........

i'm not doing that obviously and will put the gas bottles out back anyways.

thinking about the dead space under the seat i am thinking about a drawer fridge.

these are ridiculous money to buy so does anyone know how to build 1?

i'd ideally want it to be a compressor fridge due to economincal running on the batteries.

i know alot of compressors are noisy but i'd like it to be as quiet as possible being under my seat

  7. no and this tank is ideally situated and a perfect size also to be used as the waste tank

i can re-use the fittings as there is 1 at the bottom - perfect for pumping out 50/50 as to wether top or bottom pumpout

there is 2 top outlets, vent and toilet in.

the only thing i will have to add is a sender gauge which will be easy enough.

as far as i am aware all fittings are 1 1/2" tails pre-fitted at the factory.

i will obviously fit a shut-off valve at the bottom as close to the tank as possible

  8. I have 2 large water tanks on my boat,

1 is right beside the toilet i want to install a proper toilet with a waste tank

what i want to do is convert that water tank into a waste tank

it has an inlet at the top which is a normal water inlet - this will need to be converted to a pump out point.

it has an overflow near the top that goes to the outside - this will need to be converted to the waste in,

it also has an outlet near the bottom which was where the water came out, this will need to be sealed.

    it is a plastic tek-tank

how do i do the conversions?

i have been told i need a dip pipe for the pump out?

which i gather is a long tube that goes nearly to the bottom of the tank?

can this be made with normal plumbing rigid pipe? as if it's flexible won't it move?

    thanks

  9. My rubbing strake on my 26' broads boat is strange.....

it's actually made from fibreglass and is a hollow U about 100mm high and about 100mm deep,

    so quite substantial.

only trouble is it's held onto the boat via roofing bolts bolted through the boat every 12" etc.

There are 2 of them also 1 about 6" above the water line and the 2nd in the usual place

now, i am in the process of grinding off these bolts as they are all seized and have probably been on since 77 when she was built.

however...... getting to these blasted bolts is proving very hard actually in places impossible.

so i'm having to drill the bolt heads off from the outside and then grind off as much as possible and then poke the remainder through the boat and collect the bolt from the bilge hopefully.

These strakes are quit badly damaged in places, so i'm thinking replace with normal type that is attached from the outside.

Only trouble is having a boat 26' long and 10.5' wide there is about 20m in each stripe and having 2 strips that works out at about 40m at a rough guess.

rubbing strake is very expensive stuff at the best of times but having to shell out for 40 metres of the stuff is quite daunting.......

    what depth would ppl recommend?

as the original stuff is quite chunky

and anyone know of anywhere that sells the stuff cheap?

i have tried seals direct, walker rubber, wilkes, and i'm looking at a minimum of £800 so far at a rough guess

I've just tried to make my own plate holders from perspex to tie on to the bow rails and made a complete 'town halls' of them! So can anybody tell me the if you can buy licence plates to stick the registration stickers on or the best material to use.

Also I'm looking to renew the boat name in 316 stainless or chrome lettering has anybody got any ideas/contacts as I've just had a 4 figure quote (without a decimal) and the boat name isn't a welsh town :default_icon_e_surprised:

    Thanks

    Simon

i actually have a box full of thin plastic cut to size for the boat numbers, and i can do your numbers too in vinyl, all for £2 each collected & P&P would be £3 in the mainland UK

    forgot i had them actually....

  11. I need a door for my boat.

    The maximum height is 62"

this includes the frame, but if you have a door only it needs to be 5' high

width not too worried but my hole is 575mm

it is a restoration project so i can adjust the hole to suit but the height is crucial as i have a floor and a roof in the way :/

David Berry of Easticks boatyard was, and still is, a good friend of mine, as he now lives in the south of France. If he had painted the hull of that boat, he would have done it in Permoglaze gloss enamel, supplied by Coopers in Gt Yarmouth. A large number of hire yards always used this, as it is an excellent exterior paint, just as good as normal marine enamel, but about half the price.

    Thanks for the info appreciated.

On another note can you pass my details onto Dave Berry pls?

as i am desperate to find out more about the Eastick boats especially my falcon 26 Jane Anne as i have been told it started off on the broads but the BA have no record of it and neither do any of the other authorities
