Rope cutters are far from cheap so the fact it did it's job is not lucky it's prepared.

Most with rope cutters think they've wasted money but will probably never know if they paid off, I took mine off as they cost me diesel at speed but I may live to regret the choice, if one wasn't worn out I'd have left lhem in place.

If you can keep yourself in the mid channel , you will be fine . If your pace drops to a slow walk , it’s really the wind which could be your enemy. Breydon should be respected, but not feared, with common sense applied.
