Oddfellow
Our son spotted some wildlife at Kingfisher Boatyard on Sunday that we've never seen before. Not easily able to resize the image currently, so please excuse the link.... https://www.facebook.com/FreedomCruisers Anyone know what species this is? Never seen a lizard wild in the UK before. Guest
Looks like a newt, Andy! Yes, a Lissotriton vulgaris or "Common" or "Smooth" Newt.
ranworthbreeze
Newts are great little creatures that you can find in even the smallest puddle, they tend to play dead if you come across one. We had some in our lower pond the year before last and a couple of years ago kept finding them in our local community center's main hall, they had mananaged to get under the exit doors, the center has the local fishing pond behind it. Its a good job they are not the Great Crested Newts you saw or you would have been closed down by the conservationists. Regards Alan
