We have a Mikuni unit onboard 'B.A' - ours is serviced every two years and a new glow plug fitted come what may.  I normally do it but this year (March) Bro did it successfully.

Our onboard diesel tank - is treated to a dose of 'Soltron' at every fill primarily for the dreaded diesel bug but a nice side effect is that it assists fuel to burn cleaner, this helps with onboard diesel fired heating systems too
