  1. Well what a great start to my holiday tale, I got the date wrong. Saturday 3rd April 2010 Left good old Donny at 7:15am, with the plan to arrive at Potter for a quick trip round Lathams, and a coffee and bacon butty at the cafe there. The plan worked a treat, arrived Potter 10:35, in to Lathams to get some deck shoes as I had not packed my trainers, and across to the cafe for coffee and a bit of breaky. Now, the boat was not due to be ready until 13:00 (as per the letter that arrived three days before our hols) so the plan was to go to the yard, book in, and while my lad and I waited at the yard, the women will go and get the last essential supplies from Tesco's. We arrived at the yard at 11:30, I walked into reception to let them know we had arrived, to be told, the boat was ready. So, the three ladies go to Tesco, me and my lad go to the boat for the familiarisation stuff. We were shown everything, and I asked a few questions, when the question came "Have you been on a boat before?" I had my Richardsons loyalty card still in my hand, so opened it up and said "a few times from here" That was that, we were now twiddling our thumbs, waiting for the ladies to get back from getting the supplies. It seemed to take an age for them to arrive, but when they did the car was unloaded, everyone on board and off we set. Just before we got to Barton Broad, someone shouted out " Hi Geoff" it was Clive Rico, in a Le Boat boat on his way back to the yard, a quick wave and he had gone by. The plan was to moore at Ludham bridge, have dinner in The Dog. I love it when a plan comes together, moored at Ludham Bridge 15:30 ish. The kids wanted a shower (novelty on a boat again) so while nanan looked after them myself and OH took a stroll to The Dog to see the menu and if we needed to book a table. Back to the boat to get the now sparkling clean kids (must remember to fill with water in the morning) and then to The Dog for tea. Liver and bacon, blerdy marvelous. A nice journey down, boat ready 2 hours earlier than expected, a nice meal, and in bed by 21:00 (NO PICS TODAY JUPES COS CAMERA WAS STILL PACKED)
  2. It all started with rain but ended in sunshine The end
  3. Jonny, You could ahve seen me today at wroxham, turning round and waiting for the Broads cruise boats tocome out.
  4. Thats what I meant to say,
  5. Time to show my boat knowledge now. Is that a DC30 moored up (san pedro/bobbela style) I am only learning

  7. http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=218810 i got one of these Dan.
  8. Dan, So i will need a mobile phone lead from them, that plugs into the 12v system and has a cig socket at the other end.
  9. A 12V cigarette lighter socket outlet. I hope so, just forked out £55 on dongle and inverter
  10. Fantastic tale. I feel like I have been with you.
  11. just to add, On closer inspection of the photos. if you look on Howards first one above the left hand light, and to the right of the window, you can see a small arch thing (you know what I mean), this is also evident in Carols photo as a white arch, Also the outcrop of brickwork leading away to the right of the newly put in window, on Howards photo is the same.
  12. I have to agree with Howard on this one, You can't see the pub sign, as I think it is behind the tree to the left of the pic behind the fence. I think you can just see the base of the pole. everything else, the chimneys, the front elevation and even the porch seem to be the Maltsters. Edited to say, forget the possition of the entrance porch, as the original was not at the front door, but it does look similar in design to what is sticking out on Carols Pic.
  13. Just a quick note . No fishing on the rivrs or broads now, until June 16th
  14. While reading the rest of this thread, my son came up behind me and said " I know how to save on fuel " " How, would you do it, I asked " " Well " he said, "Get a yacht and sail, row or use one of those long stick things to push it " He is now nursing a black eye, for being silly.
  15. If they visited Hickling, could they have gone to West Somerton, I think the Lion has/or had a door that faced the road. With windows on either side.
  16. Just looked at a recent photo of the Ship. It's not that one.
  17. The ship has two doors facing the river, As you look at the photo, the bike is placed facing the way it could have come round the side of the pub from either along the quay, or down the hill. That is why I thought the doorway was the one to the left of the pub as you look at it from the river. Just my guess though.
  18. That looks like the door to the Ship Inn at Reedham to me. Even the ivy is still there
  19. A total guess from me, But in your post where you showed a full pic of Brigid Mary, you put Bawdsey, just of Suffolk coast. Could it be Bawdsey, just off suffolk coast.
  20. Mark, I think he means it will look FAB, GROOVY, Etc. Does look good though.
  21. Just had a quick look at my holiday tale, and coppied this bit Now back at the yard they started to fill San Pedro up with fuel to see if I got any of my £75.00 fuel deposit back. Not much will come back, I thought. Stalham-Horning-Ludham-Ranworth-Fishermans-Waveney Cntr-loddon-Rockland St Mary-Berney-Wayford-Sutton. Quite a trip in one week. Only used £45.65 worth of fuel. Didn't use as much as I thought
  22. Hi Mark, For a two week trip, I top up at begining of second week, as when you return to the yard you get money back for what you havn't used anyway. £140 seems a little steep. For a one week trip, north and south, from stalham to wavney, oulton, rockland, and back up to wayford then to stalham I only used about £50 - £60
  23. All relavent to wages I suppose, But I wish they were that now it costs that much to park your car
