  1. Yes, we had two weeks out on one of Lanngford Jillings Elysian 32's in January. Was a wonderful experience. Not least appearing at the bar at Waveney River Centre pub and the Barman having the shock of his life seeing us standing there. We had one daunting experience, We managed to get under Wayford bridge, only to find the following day to find the height woefully less than our minimum clearance, A conference in the pub came up with all manner of weird and wonderful solutions, including buying a couple of dozen folk a pint each to get on the boat, a suggestion to get a crane, all far to high cost for us to contemplate. We ended up 'carefully', stress very carefully demolishing the superstructure and manhandling the sliding roof all the way back to the rear. We were so deleiously delighted to eventually get under that we then rather foolishly, cruised all the way back to the Ferry Inn at Stokesby with one of us sat on the bow with a torch! I kid you not. We got back in the pitch black about 8pm and celebrated in the bar, after rebuilding the boat of course. One of the reasons we were so intent on getting to Stokesby were the excellent showers they had at the time. We had an absolute ball that fortnight.

  2. I would not be at all surprised Dave. The fella is quite a charcter. Can keep you amused and informed about anything for hours. Interesting background as well, his sister is Sarah Royal of Royal Boats at Wroxham. He had a cracking yard up ay Wayford bridge which was not expensive, had excellent facitil;ities for diy and assisted repairs. Saved my holidaybig time on one occasion on 'Gelmore'. Huge fan of his. Now concentrates on Boat transport.

  3. I recognise that very clearly Peter and agree very much, being one of the very folk who need a vaiation. My face shield arrived this morning and are a heck of a lot easier to deal with. I just think the main problem is actually making sure folk who are obviously well must wear a mask. A lot of those mwho don"t are the brash arrogant, I"m allright jack types. This is aimed at those!

  4. This is not the first time a discussion such as this has arisen. I also doubt it is the last. There was a big discussion about this forum having its own faceache presence, which I opposed, but am still here obviously.  You simply cannot have a dicussion forum unless you have members with contrasting views. The consensus eventually providing a well debated conclusion. Ian is one of the most valued and respected members on here and I  carefully read all his posts with interest. Ian will tell you himself, I don"t always agree and vice versa but I value his knowledge and experience. It would be a loss to the quality of this place to lose him.
