My feeling is if he was to go ,access across there land would ease.
I suspect this is key to any likely future successful restoration of the place. If there were to be movement on improving the land access then the place becomes viable once more. Obvious I know. Wonder how long it will take the present owner to realise this!

EDP says the application il from one William Hollocks? I thought it was a different name?

Seems the UK "World Beating" track and trace app has been deemed unworkable and binned!

Aye, but you could paint the inside of the holes with the rustoleum and still use your pens for the main body!

You will enjoy "Tumblehome", you would enjoy any boat from Martham. Also a good area for first time boaters as not so much traffic that side of the bridge. For a break the length you are talking about I can easily see you spending all the time topside!

Built by Storebro means quality, These boats command a rather large wad!

Plus one more! I do irrationally dislike the "americanisms" finding their way into our everyday nattering!

Wonder how a Gofundme caper would progress for a statue of Ramjet???

My first memory of "posh nosh" on the Broads goes back to 1974 when, before picking up the boat, my Mum treated myself and mate at that posh place in Brundall. Was it Lavendar House or something?? But my mate indulged in pidgeon breasts and a starter of muscles! I can't recall what I had.

Thanks for digging that gem out Charles! I enjoyed the reminder of the wobbly wit Ramjet produced. Makes me want to seek out more!

Very much as I remember him Howard, you are quite right, harmless but could be a merciless windup merchant! Always made me smile which was really the thinking behind me posting this.

Recent times have provided lots of opportunity for thought and pondering. I have done more than my share during my period of house arrest. One thing that keeps coming back to me over all these years of ever changing and fractured forums. I suspect some long servers may draw a breath, swear or even choke on their cornflakes!
Who was/is "Ramjet"???
I long thought it must be the alter ego oof another forum poster but never really managed to make my mind up. I don't doubt that many will consider Ramjet to have been an early example of an internet troll. I found him/her quite entertaining but the question remains! Who was/is this being??

My point is that if we are ever going to have peace with each other in our inner cities then me must learn to live together now, in the present day and not blindly blame it all on the past. Pulling down statues simply ignores that nowadays, we should be intelligent enough to know better.
I would add to that by saying we also need to accept and acknowledge the wrongs of the past and not try to either deny them or make excuses for them. We need to recognise them as lessons as to how we should progress and develop our relationships and lives together accepting that society is judged by how it treats and shows compassion for those who are disadvantaged by age , race or gender and cannot protect or fend for themselves.

Churchill, who led the country through six years of world war to defeat what is arguably the worst regime of racial genocide in world history.
My apologies for a bit of cherry picking Vaughan but when addressing the merits or whatever of Churchill, don't just look at WWll. This was copied from another forum because he said this better than i could!
"Winston Churchill: heroic anti-Nazi war-time leader, personification of the 'bulldog spirit' or entitled, racist aristocrat who personally oversaw the burning to death of Jewish anarchists, suggested the shooting of striking Welsh miners and was the architect of a devastating famine in which millions of Indians lost their lives? Is it possible for us to reconcile passionate national mythology with detached historical science and understand him as both?, it is only by fully understanding our past and coming to terms with it that we can reconcile and move forward. The imperial past should be confined to a museum, where it can be studied and discussed objectively, and, in the meantime, we need to find new heroes and new ideas to inspire us. Let the plinths reflect our aspirations, not our divisions. "
I'm afraid unconditional hero worship of the man really makes me very uncomfortable!

I do not think they are actually very close to even calculating accurately the R number, so why are some so fixated with it?
It was/is Boris Johnson that is fixated with this! At one time it seemed our whole future depended upon what happened to this and it seems to be used to decide when lockdown decisions are made.

Anyone compared this to a price list for boat hire in 1980??

They thought we would adopt 1 metre very soon.
Admittedly cynical but it seems to me that the majority of those singing that song are those who know a 2 metre rule, in pubs for instance, would kill any chance of profit stone dead!

If you think that the whole economy is unimportant, then I am afraid it is a very naive view and people will regret that.
I doubt that anyone thinks the economy is unimportant but there are those of us who recognise that an economy requires LIVE people for the system to work. Countries around the world are now showing statistics that clearly demonstrate that the measures taken in the UK are either flawed or insufficient. The simple truth is that caution will save more lives and ensure more of us survive to actually take our places in that economic recovery!

Surely any "air bridges" will depend upon the destination also agreeing to one! If the example of New Zealand recently is anything to go by, I supect they will not be queuing up methinks!
