  1. Just to throw another cog in the wheels of purchasing, a friend of mine recommend the following site for filters. He said its worth splitting your order between Keypart and this company for the savings (obviously depending on your engine) http://www.inlinefilters.co.uk He also said they were very helpful if you need any help...
  2. Thanks for posting that Ian. Who else would be interested ?
  3. Sorry Mark - didn't foget about you, just surprised this thread isn't inundated with "Me Please !!" posts ! Having met John, I reckon we would have to book this up pretty quickly especially as its a Bank Holiday Weekend !! Its a free service he is offering - we get to learn how to use a flare properly (I bet the majority of us have never even seen one) plus he might do a lifejacket demo - again (and hopefully) I bet not many have seen one deployed in real life ! I'll certainly be buying him a drink in the bar if we can get enough people interested !
  4. Is it really just me that wants to see a flare demo ?????
  5. Thanks for the link David !! Now done.
  6. What a great idea !! How about on the Friday or Saturday evening ?
  7. Hi John ! I really think it might be a good idea to start a completely new thread with these ideas on, that way the 'group' can say what would be most useful !! Thanks ever so much for doing tis by the way ! Luke
  8. As you well know, I know nothing about engines, but I am pretty sure that the KAD42's are turbo and supercharged..
  9. I've just looked up "Gerbil" in that same dictionary !!! But "toilet roll tube" ?????????????????????????
  10. and, by the way Mark - I looked up "feltching" as I didn't know what it means.... !! Blimey !! Urghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !! Wish I hadn't !!!!!! http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=feltching If you have just eaten, or have a weak stomach, do NOT use the link above !
  11. Ok, you guys in the know have been so helpful to me, could I push you into possibly taking a look at this list and telling me what bits I should order (and how many) to keep as spares on the boat rather than buying the dedicated Volvo on-board kit. Its pointless me buying something off this list that I (or someone reasonably talented) couldn't fit on the spot as I would take the boat to a proper engineer if there was a serious problem of course - but I have got it in my mind that I should have some spares on-board..... Things like "rocker cover gasket" and "alternator assembly" would be very pointless as I just wouldn't have a clue... So, here is the Volvo list, if you get time it would be appreciated:- http://www.keypart.com/volvo-penta/diesel-engine/kad42a
  12. Thanks for the info Jill, and Ian - what a good site !! The main problem is I guess is that I don't know what bits to actually buy and put in the box. Obviously an impeller, but there's lots of belts and stuff.....
  13. I've just told Claire that I'm leaving her in the dingy - gotta keep the weight down !!! (she didn't appreciate that !)
  14. Nope, they are KAD42's, the same that I had in the F33 - 230hp - this was the main reason why I bought Wendy Woo..... Remember our conversation about hp when on the boat ?
  15. I emailed a Volvo company that a mate of mine used to own in Great Yarmouth. The email has just come back with these prices:- Onboard Kit £110.55 Tool Kit £124.55 Service Kit £71.13 Obviously don't need the Volvo branded tool kit, just was interested. Chap said I can have 10% discount. Wish my mate still owned it !!!!!
  16. The idea of the "Onboard Kit" is brilliant, so I've done a bit of digging and found the above. The Volvo Part number for my KAD42's is 876792 - but for the life of me I can't find a supplier.... Is anyone friendly with Volvo ??
  17. Never, ever assume I know ANYTHING about engines !! Thanks for pointing this out - its something I could of easily done !!! Any mechanics that know me would understand !! lol !! (while seeing pound note signs in their eyes !!)
  18. I've just had a brilliant idea !!! Must win the quiz on Wednesday, then the set of questions next Wednesday would be pictures of bits of the engine and you have to say what it is, and what it does !!! lol !!! Could save myself a few pennies on a course !! lol !!! Seriously though, as its the strainer thing on top, I take it that I should undo the black thing and clear out any poop thats in there.... ? I'll get onto that later today !
  19. Yep, I guessed that was what you knowledgeable peeps call an "engine" !! lol !! No, seriously, I really need to get on a course and try and learn some of this stuff ! Fancy a job Mark ?? lol !! Would you get a better deal on four Mark ? I'm guessing I should have a spare ??
  20. Ah, that makes a bit of sense then. I started the boat this morning, just for a little tick over, and a little water dripped from here onto the fan belt below. It wasn't too much at all, and stopped dripping after about one minute. I couldn't be 100% sure that it was actually coming from inside there, but it looked like it from where I was looking... I'll keep an eye on it from now on, and if it does it again I'll get 'someone' to have a look at it - at least now I will be able to say (confidently) "Ah, yes mate, think theres a problem with the impeller/water pump mate - yeah...." rather than - "erm, erm.... its dripping from somewhere near there..." pointing. lol !!
  21. and, what does it do ?? And, yes, I know my boat needs a clean !! lol !!
  22. I wouldn't off thought we will be belting around all of the time - We will bring ours (don't even know what it is apart from it's black and looks pro (but its not !!!!))
