  1. Yes, all the vanes were there on the old impellor. In fact on close inspection they both seemed in good order. It wasn't until you bent them that you could see there was a couple of cracks, result of wear. Nothing missing though. I'm presuming that the exhaust elbow is "B" not "A" am I correct ?
  2. Done that David, they will be coming out next week. I was just hoping that it possibly could be something simple that I could take care of myself - you know, missing something very simple like checking the strainers for a blockage - cause I know how to do that !!...lol
  3. Hi Ian Subject to getting the over-heating all sorted we will be there !! Even gave it a clean and wax yesterday !!
  4. Firstly, thanks for all the advice !!! Now, I am a little confused.... As David said, when I take the strainer cap off and start the engines it appears to be pumping water normally - I say normally but obviously I don't actually know what normal is !! Therefore, the impellor must be doing its job ? A couple of you have said about the exhaust elbow - I know I'm going to sound really stupid, but what is this ? IF there is an air block or something that has got in there somewhere - why would the impellor housing and associated pipes get so hot ? If there is a blockage, then the water just wouldn't move surely ? Reading this back to myself I know I sound stupid, but I just can't get my head round it.. Its too dark out there now to start taking bits off, so I'll have a look again in the morning.... By the way, I should of mentioned that the boat had a full service last week, including of course the impellors. Also, not sure if I mentioned that both pipes going to the califior are hot also..
  5. Would you agree with me that the following is an impellor problem ?? My starboard engine overheats after a little time. The impellor housing is hot along with the two heavy duty pipes that run to it - unlike on the starboard engine where all is cold. (Ignore the bit about the connector) One of the pipes takes water from the broads, through the impellor and filter, then circulates this around the cooling system (the green stuff with anti-freeze) to keep it cool. I'm hoping I am correct so far - I'm very much learning !!. So, in theory, the impellor housing should not ever get hot as its taking water from the broads. Now, if I unscrew the black cap on the raw water filter and quickly start the engine, then stop it, it is obvious that the impellor is doing its job and water gushes out. Could this 'gush' out if the impellor isn't turning ? If this 'could' happen then I think this is the problem - but I presumed that the impellor is for exactly that, and if it wasn't turning there isn't anything else that would make the water gush... Any ideas ?
  6. I had the same problem Colin, and all I could find was rechargeable tourches that worked off the 12v. The one that David has found is excellent and probably the strongest one I have seen. I ended up fitting a remote operated fixed spotlight on the Sealine - I can find the details for you if you want to go down that route..
  7. Wayne Why don't you pick up a coastal map. Even if you have GPS/Plotter etc, its a good idea to have the paper map on board anyway, so when/if you upgrade it wouldn't be money wasted.. The Lowestoft map is pretty easy to understand - there is a couple of sand banks which you keep clear of, but they are easily identifiable on the map, and easy to remember too. I gave all my maps away when I sold my other Sealine as I didn't expect to get another salty boat, so I have just ordered this:- http://www.rya.org.uk/shop/pages/product.aspx?pid=SCF5614%28RYADefaultCatalog%29&mode=t&cat=Charts+Almanacs+%26+Pilotage%28RYA+Main%29&type=CHA%28RYADefaultCatalog%29&course= Some of the more experienced members might be able to pick a better selection for you, but this selection covers what I need for now. If you are a member of RYA you will also get 15% discount. By the way, if there is going to be a course set, could we include the Seals as I've never had the time to pop up there before !
  8. Hi Jonny Thanks for that, but the catch opens up so you can poke a square key through to unlock the door. Stops silly attempts to get in there without the key. Mark I have ordered what Nick has in stock and have FOUR left over - would you like them ? His price is £4.50 each plus P&P. This will be enough for you to do the ones that show. The other two are behind the seating when its in.... Luke
  9. I got there just as they were putting Clanny in the water Ian.... I wanted to have a nose round, but obviously didn't !!!
  10. Amazing you just ask that Ian !! I sent Nick an email back in November when I first was looking for them - no luck. After the day out on the boat yesterday I kept looking at them and thinking I really must try again to find them. Back in November I was actually emailing companies all over the world !! This morning, after posting this thread, I emailed Nick again, and within minutes he replied that he has them in stock !!! and asked how many I want..... I said 12 (to cover Mark as well) and now waiting for his reply..... Will update as soon as he does !! Saw your Sealine in Beccles yesterday Ian - lovely !!
  11. Well, if the Easter weekend was anything like yesterday, we are all going to be in for a treat. What a lovely day on the Broads:- And lastly, look very closely in this one.....
  12. LOL - I had a funny feeling you were going to say that Mark. If I found them I was actually going to buy all the stock, up to about 40 as I know there are other people that need them too !! They'd be a good seller on eBay !!
  13. I'm desperately looking for these door catches. I asked if anyone knew where I could get them before but unfortunetly drew a blank. As we are now getting properly into the boating season, and many of us are making frequent (!) trips to marine stores, would you be kind enough to keep an eye out for them for me please:- I have contacted many many companies about these, and the only ones that seem available are in black which just wouldn't work on a Sealine, but I'm guessing that someone somewere will have some old stock. I need about six if possible...
  14. Yep Mark, and there was one on the way back from Beccles this afternoon too !! Naughty !
  15. Thanks Mark - I'll have a look at that in the morning !! Makes a lot of sense !! Luke.
  16. I've got the same thing except:- When I switch on the Bilge from the Master Control Panel (also 240v) one of the two red lights stays on all the time. When I start the enignes, one of the lights comes on, then goes off (with alarm) BUT - when I was getting the boat up on the plane, when the boat was pointing upwards (lol - you know what I mean) the alarm went off. Once settled on the plane the buzzer stopped. Once all the water in the engine bay was got rid off this didn't happen (leak from raw water pump, now sorted) and I'm wondering if these lights/buzzer have various thing connected to them ? (obviously all as warnings..)
  17. I don't think they sell diesel there. Either Waveney River Centre or RNSYC...
  18. That just ain't going to happen Dave !!! lol !!!
  19. It was Gunk Mark as it was easily available from Halfords. And, if I put the job off I would never get round to it !! lol !! Very pleased with the results.
  20. Job done, and I must say I'm a little pleased with myself !! Just the inside and outside to do now ! Before:- After:- Thanks for all the advice !
  21. Well, as you saw, my engine bay is in a bit of a state with dirt and grease etc. The mechanic did a good job giving it a bit of a clean, but I want to do it properly. A friend said that 'Gunk' is a good cleaner for getting all the black bits off, is there anything better that you use ? I've just bought a 'Charles' wet and dry vac, so hoovering up the residue will be no problem.
