  3. Twas a windy day at st olaves one day when a man took his boat out to make some hay left and left they made there way out of the mariner they were on there way! The river Waveny was running that day out of the broads in its organized way The boat started it,s journey all was gay then all of a sudden it lost it,s way A shout went forth as in a dream The boat just stopped bloody midstream the man,s good wife let out a scream With the wind and the tide they were on the lean They reved and reved but to no avail the tide had grabbed them by the tail Down down they went gathering pace good god man you do look pale! I n the distance they could see thier worst nightmare ...it wasn,t a tree The man didn,t get time for a wee he had to deal with his canopy My hair my hair the wife did yell but the canopy was down and all was well but all of a sudden the man did yell My bowsprints hit the bridge...and you could tell Bang crash the pots and pans did go Around the cabin they kept low his rubbing strake kept them on the go , at last they came to rest ,there rope s stemming the flow. The boat was recovered ,even though it was a bit iffy, You guessed it ,it was our Jiffy right and right they did go straight into the reads wouldn,t you know

  8. The crew here is very well fed We’re feasting on Barb’s homemade bread And the bear known as Scuppers Who joins us for suppers Says this chow surpasses Club Med
  9. There once was a cruise ship in Hoonah Whose passengers hated canned tuna “If we wanted such fare, “We’d go over there “And sail with the folks on that schoona’!â€
  10. We went sailing with our good friend, Dick, Though his boat isn’t nimble or quick, She is classy as heck, Lovely lines, great big deck, And a schooner! (Yep, more than one stick.)
  11. Wombat you mus t be bored!! ok then here,s one for you..... Sailing the boat of silver light, The moon-beauty is fast approaching me. The sky is vibrating with sweet and melodious songs. The birds are flying beyond the horizon To an unknown land. All my hopes are flying without any destination. Slowly my life's evening sets in. the last line must strike a cord after that lot!!
  12. Good afternoon petrol heads, this week i have completed stripping the rest of the heads off ,and all the other four heads are in good nick and don,t need machining, all heads have been checked for flatness and are fine ,also all heads have been measured for height and the greatest difference is 0.2mm well within tolerance ,so all heads can be used .Needed now is two new valves for the "bad" head on order. The other heads have been leak tested with petrol and all valves are tight. Also today have cleaned out intercooler ,this was necessary because of the broken/weak inlet spring which had blown diesel into it. To really see youl,ll have to click the pictures .....go large!!
  13. Each to his own defines a proper boat, ie it does what the owner wants it to do,if you prefer ermmm ouchh ,rags and sticks and you and your family enjoy going backwards, sidewards, getting soaking wet and ulitimatly cold...even on a reasonable summer day...so be it.On tne the other hand ,i think you ve answered your own question on this....if your good lady can,t deal with high steps, then surely a single level boat would suit her more and make her more comfortable, and be there to keep you company. I know if i can,t manage a sports cruiser ,or sue comes to the point where she can,t ,a more suitable boat would be on the shopping list... (written after several cans of becks bier!!)
  14. Thanks, plates are with a toolmaker friend at moment,4 heads are still on engine ,as i am only doing the job on one day per week ,and returning same day, waiting for a few parts/ and a gasket at mo
  15. hi, of coarse if i find a head that isn,t flat,i,ll have to have all 5 skimmed, there,s no point in skimming heads that are flat though,"Aluminum heads, on the other hand, should have no more than .002" (0.05mm) out-of-flat in any direction. If the clearance between the straight edge and surface exceeds the maximum limits, the head or block should be resurfaced".Industry standard . Trev

    Any Excuse

Once when we were on Braydon i was actually encouraged to pass a boat at speed........the broads authority launch on patrol,he opted for a broken 6 inch wash oposed to a 2 ft full hump wash, hire boaters are aware of the dangers of braydon they are made aware of them by the yards or in the guides if they take no notice then more fools them, mention has been made of speeding on Braydon..sorry there,s no speed limit!!. A planning boat at the other side of the marked channel from a hire boat will make hardly any difference to the hire boat so there,s absolutly no reason why you should slow down as long as there,s enough space between the two boats, indeed a lot of hire boaters love to see a high speed boat doing what comes natural to it planning! as most are boating people anyway. i won,t tell you what a pair of sailing boats did when i was approaching them at 34 knots....but i bet you can imagine!!
  19. Having slept on it,as the head gaskets hadn,t blown ,i don,t think i am going to have the heads skimmed, new valves /spring/washer/ and have the valves lapped in
  20. Hi, progressed the engine today,we got all the rest of the parts off that will enable us to remove the head,(inlet/exhaust manifold ,cooling water tank ,turbo ect).Que vadis and i then removed one head,Thankfully ,there has been no valve clash with the piston, however the valve gear and valves have been replaced/worked on by others, and the valves were not seated properly ,and there is damage to the exhaust valve stem, collet washer, and collets,so the heads is going to be refurbed with new valve seats valves /spring ect, Also the engine is going to be converted to have one head gasket instead of 5 seperate ones(upgrade to gen2 engine spec). pictures soon
