  1. Depend s on the transport, but if the boat is to be slung some boat movers prefere you to empty your tanks, because of the shifting of weight ,if the boat tilts and say for example 50 gallons of water in a 100 gallon tank slushes from one side to another,as yours is only a smallish boat i don,t think you,ll have a problem, take the covers off the boat before he gets there and store them inside,if you don,t they will blow off! ,and make sure nothing in the cabin can roll around or fall out of cupboards ect, treat it as a sea trip in a storm and you will be fine, one more point ..Relax!! they know what there doing! good luck
  2. That looks like a medival drawning tool!! thanks for the suggestion.
  3. From talking to quo, the base washer/plate was there...we just didn,t take it off, so that wasn,t the cause!!!,the spring looks rusty but this is the flash photograpy in daylight it looks fine, from the piting on the spring i think it,s been broken a long time!!
  4. No ,the valve itself is ok,we have the cylinder at tdc with the valve resting on it,there,s not a lot of clearance between the two normaly...the plan is to fit the new spring with the head on if we can,as no weight will be on the valve or piston we should be ok,don,t know what method we going to use as yet,but will save a gasket set if we can do it,i ve ordered a new spring ,collet washer, collets, and a push rod, as the engine has had previous work done on it and has an odd sized push rod(ie shorter, which works but means your at the end of the tappet adjustment range. Also after looking at the spares list on the website i think the previous mechanic left the bottom plate under the spring off,i believe this was the cause of the spring breaking. As the engine didn,t miss,or smoke under load we think we wiill be ok regards Trev
  5. As some of you may be aware one of my engine,s ,has had an annoying tapping noise ,only on tickover for a long tome,so today i bit the bullet and took the rocker cover off it. My consulant and i(que vadis((where are you going?)) ) went through the tappet clearances, when we came to the last two valves we found no.3 cylinder inlet tappet VERY LOOSE....bet you would not guess why??....talk about lucky!!
  6. Hi, Iam no expert on manipulating photo,s ,and i don,t use light room ect because of cost .What i use for processing RAW images is nikon,s capture nx2,it does everything i need and dosn,t baffle you with science ect,of coarse it would be no good if you don,t have a nikon!! about 120 pounds if bought. i don,t use it all the time though Piasa 3 can be just as good....if the shot is decent enough,or i have faststone image viewer on the laptop aswell..both are free. These will let you "tune" your image simply, but produce lesser quality fixes, only a pixel counter could normaly tell,or your trying to do large prints..a4 or above. give them a trial after all thier free Trev

  8. The worry here is that the battery charger has lost an output due to the the boiled battery, and if the switch has been left off ,a damaged alternator. whoops bit of a lakesailer!!
  9. It,s hard to diagnose a fault when you don,t know how the system is wired, but a another possibility could be a faulty split diode block...i had this in the summer,of coarse both alternator AND battery charger would have to run through it??
  10. hi......is the isolation switch on?? or faulty?
